A very disputable piece of conservative rhetoric and a common conservative audience dog whistle.

Forward Progressive recently published a piece regarding last week’s terror attacks in Paris and subsequent conservative blaming President Obama for the carnage. While high information voters (people) know the genesis of middle east instability far precedes President Obama’s Inauguration to the Oval Office, we from time-to-time revisit life before January 2009. We find it necessary to address the US conservative’s penchant for a core belief life in the United States started on January 20th, 2009. Just as millions of the same people actually believe humankind commenced during a time period that sprang into existence about 6,000 years ago.

Allen Clifton writing for Forward Progressive keyboarded as follows:

To the Republicans Blaming President Obama for the Attack in Paris: Are You Out of Your Damn Minds?

Many Republicans have reached such a point of absurdity, it’s unfathomable to me that there are people who still take them seriously. Try as I might, I cannot bring myself to the simplistic, small-minded level of thinking that it clearly requires to buy into and believe the nonsense the GOP constantly pushes. It’s as if the…Read more

The genesis of the current radical terror scourge far outdates any actions that may have commenced after Obama’s inauguration in 2009. While conservatives will find what follows against their paradigm, facts are facts and they point to a vastly different reality. Evil yet authoritarian leaders in virtually all middle Eastern countries offered humankind a respectively ugly reality (country to country), but they offered containment of more evil entities and ideology. The Bush inner circle went about a committed focus on Saddam Hussein almost immediately after the 2000 SCOTUS Awarded of the US Presidency to George W Bush.

In 2002, George W. Bush started a very public campaign for attacking Saddam Hussein and perpetrating war against Iraq. During a speech in Houston Texas in September of that year, Bush delivered a speech that included this excerpt.

The following September 2002 CNN report from John King is point-on about the Bush quest for war with Iraq.

Bush calls Saddam ‘the guy who tried to kill my dad’From John King (CNN)

HOUSTON,  Texas (CNN) —President Bush leveled harsh criticism Thursday at the Senate on homeland security issues, but he revised his stump speech to make clear “there are fine senators from both parties who care deeply about our country.”

And, in discussing the threat posed by Iraqi President Saddam Hussein, Bush said: “After all, this is the guy who tried to kill my dad.”

If you prefer a visual reminder, take a couple of minutes to view pure jingoism and war-mongering, regardless of purpose. What you are about to see and hear provided a “Go-forward” order for Administration operatives throughout the White House and Defense Department. The order may well have been: “find me war and an opportunity to go into Iraq.”

Other well-publicized reports of perceptions Bush wanted into Iraq and at Saddam Hussein need not be repeated. I have linked (here) to a 2012 piece which includes information that refutes “He kept us safe” while making the case, he was strategically indifferent to pre-9/11 INTEL.

In July 2003, The Bush Security Team received the following Detail Briefing and summary ignored the warnings. Warnings that literally include the name Osama bin Laden.

Transcript: Bin Laden determined to strike in US

Saturday, April 10, 2004

The following is a transcript of the August 6, 2001, presidential daily briefing entitled Bin Laden determined to strike in US. Parts of the original document were not made public by the White House for security reasons.
Clandestine, foreign government, and media reports indicate bin Laden since 1997 has wanted to conduct terrorist attacks in the US. Bin Laden implied in U.S. television interviews in 1997 and 1998 that his followers would follow the example of World Trade Center bomber Ramzi Yousef and “bring the fighting to America.”

After U.S. missile strikes on his base in Afghanistan in 1998, bin Laden told followers he wanted to retaliate in Washington, according to a — — service.

An Egyptian Islamic Jihad (EIJ) operative told – – service at the same time that bin Laden was planning to exploit the operative’s access to the U.S. to mount a terrorist strike.

The millennium plotting in Canada in 1999 may have been part of bin Laden’s first serious attempt to implement a terrorist strike in the U.S.

Convicted plotter Ahmed Ressam has told the FBI that he conceived the idea to attack Los Angeles International Airport himself, but that in —, Laden lieutenant Abu Zubaydah encouraged him and helped facilitate the operation. Ressam also said that in 1998 Abu Zubaydah was planning his own U.S. attack.

Ressam says bin Laden was aware of the Los Angeles operation. Although Bin Laden has not succeeded, his attacks against the U.S. Embassies in Kenya and Tanzania in 1998 demonstrate that he prepares operations years in advance and is not deterred by setbacks. Bin Laden associates surveyed our embassies in Nairobi and Dar es Salaam as early as 1993, and some members of the Nairobi cell planning the bombings were arrested and deported in 1997.

Al Qaeda members — including some who are U.S. citizens — have resided in or traveled to the U.S. for years, and the group apparently maintains a support structure that could aid attacks.

Two al-Qaeda members found guilty in the conspiracy to bomb our embassies in East Africa were U.S. citizens, and a senior EIJ member lived in California in the mid-1990s.

A clandestine source said in 1998 that a bin Laden cell in New York was recruiting Muslim-American youth for attacks.

We have not been able to corroborate some of the more sensational threat reporting, such as that from a —- service in 1998 saying that Bin Laden wanted to hijack a U.S. aircraft to gain the release of “Blind Sheikh” Omar Abdel Rahman and other U.S.-held extremists.

Nevertheless, FBI information since that time indicates patterns of suspicious activity in this country consistent with preparations for hijackings or other types of attacks, including recent surveillance of federal buildings in New York.

The FBI is conducting approximately 70 full-field investigations throughout the U.S. that it considers bin Laden-related. CIA and the FBI are investigating a call to our embassy in the UAE in May saying that a group or bin Laden supporters was in the U.S. planning attacks with explosives.

If you read the July 2003 Daily Briefing, you are probably one who feels the Bush Administration could have done much more to disrupt the September 11 attacks in NYC, Washington DC and the downed airliner in Pennsylvania. Moreover, if you are politically astute on current events you also know that Jeb Bush works to waylay his brothers military malfeasance with “He kept us safe”.

Problem!

Conservatives apparently possess DNA that induces forgetfulness and the wiping clean of gray matter within hours of substantive national events. They seem to file away everything beyond yesterday to a never to be brought forth again, file. Thus Jeb Bush’s kept us safe is as flawed an argument as arguing his brother actually won the US Presidency in 2000.

Politico recently published a must-read piece that offers a lifeline for the reality Bush knew of the developing attack strategy while doing nothing to thwart terrorist planning nor the actual acts of terror.

Bin Laden Determined to Strike in U.S.”The CIA’s famous Presidential Daily Brief, presented to George W. Bush on August 6, 2001, has always been Exhibit A in the case that his administration shrugged off warnings of an Al Qaeda attack. But months earlier, starting in the spring of 2001, the CIA repeatedly and urgently began to warn the White House that an attack was coming.

You may recall Bush’s White House spokesman, Ari Fleischer, and his consistent and persistent indifference reported warnings; accurate warnings.  Fleischer’s vapid puerile bleating in support of his boss’s agenda should serve along with the Bush legacy of how the White House should not work.

Ari Fleischer’s contrive facade regarding Bush’s attention to warnings.

ABC News Bush Warned of Hijackings Before 9-11″

“There has been long-standing speculation, shared with the president, about the potential of hijackings in the traditional sense,” White House Press Secretary Ari Fleischer said. “We had general threats involving Osama bin Laden around the world and including in the United States.”

Fleischer insisted that Bush did not ignore the threats, saying that hijacking warnings were something that past White Houses have faced for decades. No one, Fleischer said, could have conceptualized what happened on Sept. 11. White House officials believed the hijackings could occur in a more traditional manner.

While not one Bush Administration official spoke honestly while employed by the administration, a moderate number have come forth (mostly via book hawking) to speak about Bush’s indifference to relevant INTEL and associated warnings. Over the past few days, Bill Gates, former Administration Defense Secretary, has joined others in speaking honestly about what Jeb Bush calls “kept us safe.”

BUSH’S EX-CIA DIRECTOR REVEALS: BUSH IGNORED MANY PRIOR 9/11 WARNINGS TO PREVENT ‘PAPER TRAIL’

Americans who fall for the Bush “kept us safe” mantra should also have learned this valuable refrain:

‘Those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it’, George Santayana (16  1863 in Madrid – September 1952 Italy)

If we ae going to following media warmongers and acclimating to the Jeb Bush mantra of “He kept us safe”, let’s do so with a full magazine (Republicans will love that metaphor).
