The Daily GOP Ignominious: Art Of The Deal Writer Exposes Trump

In Art Of The Deal Writer Exposes Trump, Lawrence O'Donnell, MSNBC, Tony Schwartz, Trump Flim-Flam man, YOUR GOP GOP 2916 on July 31, 2016 at 9:42 AM

“Did you read his book?”

“Did you read my book?”

No on all counts.  While I respect the written word in the form of books, I actually never grew into heading out to purchase books from authors (beyond textbooks and noted credible writers , eg. Stephen Covey as an example) simply based on exhortation to buy “my book.”

Why do so many believe books are developed with the only intent to purvey messages while “truth-telling?”  History is laden with books laced with outright lies, in some cases misinformation, and in other cases grievous omissions. Books are written after a basic human mental process which starts with motive.  Motive drives us all; the book writer enacts her/his motive with the ultimate behavior: they write or contract someone to ghostwrite a book. Thus, my suspicions  more often than not drive me away from books other than the occasional novel. Allow me to offer two glaring and irrefutable examples: Bill O’Reiily’s book about the death of Abe Lincoln (loaded with lies) and Denish D’Souza’s book regrading President Obama (total lies accompanied by movie productions).

At the risks of offending some, I assert the Bible, in and of itself, is a compilation of the posting and inscribing acts of men over a period of over 100 years. While I make no assertion the Bible is loaded with lies, I certainly suggest it is the product of the male brain and related to perceived sins of their individual times. Full devotion to the Bible (all passage) as a book would be foolish without consideration of exaggeration, metaphorical representations  and in some cases maybe ghostwritten (letters).

Did I mention ghostwriting above? I believe so, now let’s explore ghostwriting and the current con artist running for president as the leader of the GOP. First, reflect on how the con artist has linked his recently revealed ghostwritten book “Art of the Deal.”  Fraud!

What happens when the ghostwriters openly speak about his role as the writer of Trump’s book?  What should happen is a nation should pay attention to yet another con by what could be the world’s most prominent con man.  We thought we should assist  those who may have missed the many confessions of Trump’s ghostwriter: Tony Schwartz.

Schwartz has come out with what a rational person can only call tsunami buyer’s remorse or severe and chronic cognitive dissonance.  The ghostwriter has literally adopted a refrain of, “I am is terrified of Trump in the Oval Office:. Schwartz doesn’t hesitate to state he never envisioned Trump running for the highest level of political office.

If you have time, review the following video form various news sources with Schwartz commenting on his role in developing the book. Some segments also include comments regarding the writer’s perception of Trump as a person.

The segment (posted below) form a segment of MSNBC’s The Last Word. was posted in one minute segment (total of five segments) based on the source of the video.  The Last Word segments the shortest of the various news segments. Why did we post so many segments? Each news host added value to exposing Trump’s fraud via the manner in which they individually handled their interviews.

The New Yorker offers a detailed read of Schwartz’s post Art of the Deal heartburn.

Excerpt

“I put lipstick on a pig,” he said. “I feel a deep sense of remorse that I contributed to presenting Trump in a way that brought him wider attention and made him more appealing than he is.” He went on, “I genuinely believe that if Trump wins and gets the nuclear codes there is an excellent possibility it will lead to the end of civilization.”

If he were writing “The Art of the Deal” today, Schwartz said, it would be a very different book with a very different title. Asked what he would call it, he answered, “The Sociopath.”

Former Donald Trump ghostwriter Tony Schwartz says he regrets working on “The Art of the Deal,” and never envisioned Trump running for president.

MSNBC And The Hyperbolic Brian Williams Continues To Entertain Conservatives

In black lives matter, BLM, Chris Matthews, MSNBC, MSNBC moves right, Rudy Giuliani, The Hyperbolic Brian Williams on July 9, 2016 at 2:27 PM

MSNBC is successfully (albeit it slowly) transforming from a progressive network with a decided and public “left” lean, to a network ordered to move “right” by its executive officer. Evidence of such manifest in the early morning hours via additional air-time for its flagship morning conservative commentary via the Morning Joe show and various programming cancellations. Other evidence includes Chris Matthews stepping up with many more conservative guests as well as occasional oratory which clearly appeals to his growing conservative audience. An irrefutable example of Matthews as an entertainer who ‘plays’ it both ways with increasing appeal to conservatives is evident in a 2014 Hardball segment. Matthews surprised a couple of his guest with what appeared a planned and well-positioned question about Obama’s last two years in office.

Matthews pandered to conservative viewers.
http://content.jwplatform.com/players/xlA5T28U-F6KYzWLn.html

Why would Matthews wonder about Obama folding up the tent and golfing (my words) through his last two years? Why would Matthews exhibit clear angst against the president because Obama refused to place more ground troops in the Middle East? Why would Matthews so publicly challenged Obama’s leadership simply based on the reality Obama leads diametrically opposite of Matthews mindset? A mindset that found Rand Paul on Hardball air with Matthews ending a segment with a comment about how their minds have a common place in some areas. RAND PAUL? Matthews even postulated Paul was the “man to beat in 2016.” RAND PAUL?
It should be noted, Paul swore-off appearing on MSNBC a couple of years before his 2014 love fest from Matthews. You may recall Rachel Maddow’s thorough exposure of Paul as an anti-civil rights libertarian who would promulgate and support private business owner rights over rights of free and open access. Thus, Paul would serve as a conduit to discrimination if access, housing and opportunity to exercise life-sustaining consumerism. Matthews also chose, for ratings, to ignore Paul’s frequent run-ins with plagiarism. The MSNBC host also ignores Paul’s history regarding association,

Jack Hunter Neo-Confederate

Why would Paul so readily agree to visit with Matthews if he did not feel very comfortable in speaking in a safe setting?

Do you, by chance, recall a Trump telling Matthews he watches his show while also stating Matthews has a “good” show after an early GOP debate? The evidence of Phil Griffin’s edict to move his network right shows like a far too tight fitting.

Let’s jump forward to this past week’s performances from MSNBC’s Brian “I was there” Williams and his hyperbolic on-air comments. First, let me remind, Brian offered analogous comments about President Obama’s first campaign speech with Hillary Clinton as comparable to a Richard Pryor stand-up performance.  Pryor was a great comedian who in his last few years adopted more social commentary in his stage performances, but I find Williams’s analogy off-base in many ways. Obama’s campaign speech certain wasn’t meant as 45 full minutes of funny jokes nor any social commentary. Yet we must consider the nascent MSNBC audience.
Williams also raised the ire of progressive social media after referring to the evening of attacks against Dallas cops as “urban warfare.” While it has been far too long to recall, I wonder if Williams of any network newscast host referred to Waco, TX and Ruby Ridge law enforcement confrontations as “country-side” warfare.

Williams continue his growing tendency to reveal a degree of  (entertainment/journalistic) malfeasance in reporting via providing uninterrupted and unchallenged airtime in which Rudy Giuliani delivered yet another unarguably racist tirade.

After a week of two videotaped shootings of black men by cops and after a week of the killing of five Dallas cops immediately after a peaceful protest, MSNBC via Williams felt the need to provide a platform for a man who intermixed the following comments on international TV.

Huffington Post

Giuliani said this, “When you talk about Black Lives Matter, well you know, the black young boy who is killed by another black young boy is just as dead as a black young boy who was killed by the police officers.”

“I think the reason there’s a target on police officers backs is because of groups like Black Lives Matter. They make it seem like all police are against blacks.”

“When a police officer tells you something, do what he says. it doesn’t matter if you’re white or black.”

The Williams Segment (Crooks & Liars)

//embed.crooksandliars.com/embed/9CEs2Mhd

When media simply provides a platform for conservative demagogues who do not hesitate to offer biased and racially charged dogma, media becomes mere entertainment and a platform for propaganda. In the cases of right-wing propaganda from conservative tools, such as Giuliani, how is his rhetoric markedly different than that of Joseph Goebbels as he laid the communication and propaganda groundwork for the Third Reich. How many Germans relished in the skills of Goebbels oratory and ended the Second World War claiming they “did not know?”

How hard would it have been for Williams to have asked Giuliani about BLM as it relates to the early week killings of two “compliant” black men?

Why do we find it a stretch to accept the reality of “BLM” commenced as we witnessed innumerable cop killings (via videotape)?

Are we to actually believe that the dead don’t matter?

Are we so immersed in racial separation and indifference, we can not get into the reality of cop killings in black comments or against blacks is was beyond disparate when compared to the white community”

In "Urban warfare", Brian Williams, Dallas shooting coverage, MSNBC on July 8, 2016 at 12:28 PM

As the coverage of last nights terrorism in Dallas literally erased publicity regarding the tragic and senseless killings of two African-American men over the course of the week, MSNBC reminded us of the ratings-garnering potential of “excitement news.”

Of course, coverage of the post-peaceful protest march police killings in Dallas warranted some form of television news coverage; without question. Yet we should question the level, scope, and depth of coverage which will surely inspire other copy-cat killings. CNN’s coverage while also somewhat hyperbolic was augmented with guest contributors who spoke eloquently and productively about the weeks of senseless killings.

Have we grown so addicted to reality television we allow the inane questions, comments from highly paid talking heads, and over-broadcast segments to ruin our psyches? Have we moved from early “Shock & Awe” Iraq War segments regarding the Iraq war to 24/7 showing and re-showing of news segments that actually diminish value within hours?  Is there true value in the re-runs with on the street comments from just about anyone the reporter feels is newsworthy?

His reference to JFK and his use of “Urban warfare.” are not surprising, Last week Williams compared President Obama’s campaign speech (in support of Clinton) a reminder of the late Richard Pryor. No surprise out of the mouth of Willaims. Nonetheless, the overuse of drama, war-hyperbole with associated verbiage has become common on cable news shows and has contributed to the removal of a network news anchor from NBC’s Evening News.  Well now, wasn’t that anchor Brian Williams?

MSNBC’s braggadocious host, Brian Williams, (known for reporting hyperbole and outright lies) took the Dallas coverage to that of reality TV.

While CNN continued its model of running and re-running video every twenty minutes, the network’s managers and producers offered hosts and guests with forward reaching and civil messages.

Television is s a powerful media. It is as integral to our lives as the kitchen refrigerator and air conditioner units. But. we should recall, television has given us some of our most horrific memories and has contributed to the success of the GOPs nominee for the top of their 2016 presidential ticket.

Celebrity rules and those who are not celebrities are mere pawns and paths to millions in earnings for the celebrity.

UPDATE: Media Matters reported on probably most heinous of media responses to the cop killings.  The following is utterly ridiculous and shameful. The New York Post.

Clinton: "No charges"

In Clinton, Clinton email, Mediaite, MSNBC on July 2, 2016 at 6:43 PM

Apparently, mere hours after Hillary Clinton’s voluntary interview with the FBI, the law enforcement agency announced (albeit it nonpublic) she would not face any charges related to her ill-advised use of a home server as Secretary of State.

Clinton Calmly Responds to Reports She Won’t Face Charges: ‘This Is Entirely Up to the Department’

by J.D. Durkin | 7:03 pm, July 2nd, 2016

On the same day when Hillary Clinton voluntarily sat for 3.5 hours with the FBI as part of their investigation into her handling of classified material, the former Secretary of State received — perhaps — a bit of unexpected good news during a live interview on MSNBC.

The surprise interview with Chuck Todd came just hours after Clinton wrapped up her meeting with FBI investigators at her house in Washington D.C. “I’ve been eager to do it,” she told Todd about finally sitting with the FBI. She remarked that she was looking forward to bringing the investigation, “to a conclusion.”

However, it was at the tail end of the live broadcast that Todd addressed the early reports that were fast coming in to several newsrooms on this Saturday: that Clinton will not be facing any charges.

“As we were talking, there are news reporters that indicate no charges may be brought against you and a final decision in a couple weeks,” said Todd in the waning seconds of the hit. “Were you given that indication today? That no charges would be filed and are you confident no charges would be filed?”

“Chuck I am not going to comment on the process,” replied Clinton. “I have no knowledge of any timeline. This is entirely up to the Department.” Just yesterday Attorney General Loretta Lynch announced that the Justice Department would receive the full recommendation from the FBI and director James Comey; while no specific window of time has been announced, the coming weeks will prove to be very important in the development and release of the findings.

Sensing that he had already run over the allotted five minutes, Todd wrapped up his interview there.

You can check out the full interview above from MSNBC; the exchange about the newly-reports can be heard around the 7:00 mark.

Susan Sarandon, Chris Hayes…..What?

In All In, Chris Hayes, http://schemas.google.com/blogger/2008/kind#post, MSNBC, Susan Sarandon on March 29, 2016 at 2:24 PM

Her record is disastrous. Judgment and credibility is an admirable trait. Some just do not have those traits.

We try hard to avoid the Clinton Vs Sanders social media battles.  However, from time to time we will call out insane manifestations of ridiculousness. And example is Hillary Clinton’s considering another debate only if Sanders tones-down.  Why not just say no verses commenting as if on the GOP campaign trail?

It is impossible however to ignore the too often cases of a surrogate, or pundit appearances on behalf of candidates.  Bill Clinton certainly should have considered reading from notes as he addressed GOP obstruction over the past seven years : “seven-year legacy.”  But, we have to honestly state Bernie supporters, in some cases, remind of an intoxicated libertarian. Rapper Killer Mike’s “uterus” comments come to mind. Yet, to date, I have not witnessed anything like last night’s MSNBC’s All-In appearance of Susan Sarandon.

Has Sarandon has gone nuts. I wonder if she asked to go on the show or did Haye’s crew actually invite her. She seemed dense and reminded of a Libertarian in a law library (as sick as they can get when faced with the law) or a Bundy anarchist in a wildlife refuge. Actually, she should consider grabbing Thelma, secure a convertible, and locate a cliff.

Credibility ruined.–Dave.

If Bernie Sanders fails to get the Democratic nomination, Susan Sarandon isn’t sure she’ll vote for Hillary Clinton. She even said Monday that Trump could be the…

Trump Talking Head Cut-off On CNN; Offered A Platform on MSNBC

In Alex Witt, http://schemas.google.com/blogger/2008/kind#post, MSNBC, Omarosa, Trump talking head shill, Trump's Manufactured gutter battles on March 26, 2016 at 1:44 PM

Screen Shot 2016-03-26 at 1.36.18 PM
We often write about the diminution of US new media.  Early today, the perfect example of our point broadcast on MSNBC. Weekend host Alex Witt interview noted Trump talking head shill Omarosa in the common TV news split screen remotely panelist format.

The nascent minister, post The Apprentice reality TV show actor, is a known “Trump can do as he pleases” stooge.  It appeared last night as CNN producers via Lemon was set to pull the plug on Trumps number two (black) talking head. Within mere seconds of the start of the interview, Lemon was issuing on-camera non-verbals to his broadcast booth to cut Omarosa’s mic.

Watch!

https://youtu.be/VenYhwuov8Q

The interchange was yet another indictment of 234/7 cable news ratings based programming. As talking head surrogates go (DEM or Republicans) They have one message and they go about delivering that message in the very same manner no matter the network, the question or the network host. Omarosa’s message was coming out as the canned Trump approve message which of his more visible talking heads deliver.

While I have through the years also reaped considerable criticism on the ratings seeking Don Lemon, I was forced to tip my hat regarding the segment.

Now, for the point of this piece. I have posted a segment from MSNBC’s Weekends With Alex Witt. Witt interviews the talking head Omarosa.

Mediaite

Excerpt

Now, a Donald Trump supporter, one Omarosa Manigault, has added her name to the growing list of devotees inspired by Ms. Carey. Today on MSNBC, the following exchange took place:

ALEX WITT: I’m curious about your reaction to your candidate’s attacks on Heidi Cruz. Is he going too far?

MANIGAULT: Well, I don’t remember Donald Trump at all attacking Heidi Cruz… I do recognize this week there was a back-and-forth where Donald Trump was forced to, of course, defend his wife against some really ugly ads that were created by a superPAC that supports and endorses Ted Cruz.

Yes. Just as Carey absolutely, unquestionably knew who Lopez was, Manigault absolutely, unquestionably knows about Trump attacking Heidi Cruz. Her avoidance of the topic got her a little bit further with Witt than it did with Don Lemon last night on CNN. When she tried to dodge the big Heidi question then, Lemon just stopped the interview.

MSNBC Offers Trump Talking Head A Platform

Witt allowed Manigault to go on to share her position that Trump was merely defending wife Melania Trump from a mean-spirited ad. She suggested that any man who wouldn’t do whatever necessary to defend his wife would also not do whatever necessary to defend his country as its president.

MSNBC management really should offer less obvious viewerratings cheese. Most Americans realize that Donald Trump is a celebrity phony who commands attention primarily due to his money.  The former somewhat credible news source has joined CNN in broadcasting segments that facilitate ratings at the expense of segments which pretend to be news.  Witt’s interview with the Trump talking head was an unquestionable infomercial. It was either intended to appeal to MSNBC’s growing conservative audience, or the segment was offered without any challenge due to Witt’s inability to pose probing questions. Questions which are absolutely critical when Trump has paid shills (eg., Omarosa, Katrina Pierson, Jeffrey Lord) delivering pre-agreed upon messages in response to his guttural acts, comments and overall behavior.

Media has given Trump a pass via allowing telephone interviews since he first announced his in June of 2015. CNN has become a veritable Trump broadcast network as it doesn’t seem to be able to broadcast thirty minutes of airtime without a Trump segment.  It is sad to see any host on MSNBC (beyond the expected schmoozing from Joe Scarborough), offer a platform to a presidential candidate who shouldn’t be allowed near the US Presidency. Even a host who seems more a new reader than an electronic journalist should have been allowed or advised to push-back just a bit on Omarosa’s diatribe.

When challenged this past weekend by Fox News’s Chris Wallace Trump declares his right to incite: If You Only News.

In January 2016, MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow broadcast a point on segment regarding similarity Trump’s campaign and the campaign of noted super racist 1960s former governor fo Alabama, George Wallace.

MSNBC

Donald Trump clones Alabama racist Governor George Wallace. Rachel Maddow January 2016.  The segment is a bit long, but in this year of critical politics, time well spent.

 George Wallace And Donald Trump

Uncanny?  I suggest not. The similarities are common because the ideology is the same. While cloaking its bigoted foundation deep in its core, the GOP has promulgated and nurtured what has to be a metastasized condition born in strategy.

Trump has declared his supporters have a right to freedom to assemble and worship him (my words).  But, does his events and his supporters have the right to trample on the rights of others? Over the weekend Trump events not only garnered multiple acts of violence among attendees (and protesters), we also found a pepper-spraying of a group of protesters in Kansas City, Missouri and of all horrors desecration of a graveyard.

If You Only News

Chris Stokes was in the crowd when the KCPD decided to use pepper spray on the crowd.

As you can see, we were far from what happened and were not involved but he in walked up spraying us

You can see the protesters lined up on the sidewalk, milling around but being peaceful. Stokes toldBuzzFeed News that they had been staying on the sidewalk all day. He stated that, at this point, a small group of protesters was encouraging people to lock arms and walk into the street. As this was happening, Stokes says the police just started shooting pepper spray into the crowd with no warning. You can see the police line up and, at 1:58 in the video below, open fire. And that pepper spray is like a fire hose.

Video by Agnus Dei

After the dousing, everything “went back to peaceful really fast,” Stokes said.

Basically the overall vibe from everybody I talked to afterward was, ‘I can’t believe that just happened.’

Of course, the KCPD tells a different story. They said that they had to spray the crowd to avoid a riot. Yeah, because those people looked like they were going to riot any second. Apparently, the KCPD can’t tell the difference between people exercising their rights and a riot.

I don’t know about you, but I don’t see any time in which pepper spray needed to be used. “Had to” must mean something else to the KCPD. They did thank the “majority” for exercising their right “peacefully.”

MSNBC’s Chris Matthews Goes Celebrity Worshiper And Spews Bigoted Remarks

In Chris Matthews, MSNBC, Two Cuban Guys on January 26, 2016 at 11:13 PM

As a diehard and committed liberal (progressive if you prefer), I believe in “fair is fair”, and we report and comment accordingly.

MSNBC’s Chris Matthews has again opened his mouth in developing a potential scenario should Donald Trump pull out of the Thursday night GOP Debate. Matthews spoke about the lack of interest in two Cuban Guys (Rubio and Cruz) debating on Thursday.  “Two Cuban guys?”  The comment was as bigoted as I have heard and, frankly racist, since considering Matthews frequently comments about his Irish DNA.

Matthew’s oral diarrhea flows far too much even for the nascent right lean of MSNBC.   Let’s move past the fact the Thursday stage will also have debaters who are not Cuban, to more relevant comment about Matthews. During the past few years, I have personally heard Matthews quip and giggle about his perception of how President Obama would spend his final two years in office.   “A real Chief Executive?” It takes only minutes to seek and locate reams of information about President Obama as a Chief Executive.  Matthews played to his conservative viewers without regard from Obamas first six years with no cooperation for Republicans and Obama’s accomplishments.

I offer another example of Matthews as a former progressive who seems to seek a more conservative audience. The mush-mouthed host frequently refers to African-Americans as “the Blacks,” and he often refers it Islamic terrorist “Jihadi Islamicists.”

If those example of a Neo-con Matthews, it is worth noting he has more than once mentioned his psychic proximity to Rand Paul (on certain issues).

Mediate published an early evening piece about Matthews latest flirts with right-wing viewers.  While some may not recognize the reality is Matthews exercised a decided degree of white privilege.

MSNBC host Chris Matthews bashed the idea of a Donald Trump-free Republican debateTuesday, asking why anyone would care about a debate between “the Cuban guys.”

“Who is going to watch a debate between the two Cuban guys?” theHardball host said dismissively. “Who is going to watch a debate between Rubio, Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz. Who cares?”

“You know they’ve been fighting in this interleague fight over who is the hawkish guy, or whatever. Who is going to watch that Thursday night?” he asked.

In 2015, Matthews said that he did not know if Cruz and Rubio, both of whom are Cuban-American, should even be considered Hispanic.

Rick Snyder Poisons Michigan’s Seventh-largest City: Your GOP

In ECO-WATCH, http://schemas.google.com/blogger/2008/kind#post, Michigan's Governor, MSNBC, Rachel Maddow Show, Rick Snyder Poisons Michigan's Seventh-largest City, TRMS, Your GOP on January 16, 2016 at 1:28 PM

History repeats with Michigan voters failing to understand: ” Forgetting one’s past leads to reliving the past.”

A cost saving measures to draw residential water from the Flint River instead of the more costly water systems from Lake Heron, has reminded communities of GOP governance.

The majority of Americans who follow the news or current events know that Detroit, Michigan fell into a state of bankruptcy. While tragic enough, the failed economic state led to health risks that were prologue to a much deep health catastrophe as Michigan’s Republican governor followed ‘spending cuts’ practices endemic to all thing GOP.’

In 2014, Michigan’s Governor, Rick Snyder, appointed an unelected “emergency” manager to work towards bringing Detroit back to solvency, or to at least (hopefully) provide a level of governing stability during times of economic disaster.  Water and the supply of water in metro areas around the state have been integral to fail GOP leadership; at the peril of residence who had (or have) no power beyond an ability to turn-on and turn-off faucets.

ECO-WATCH published a piece this week which lays GOP governance open to scrutiny. and, you thought the GOP only “leads from the gutter” At the federal level!

Flint, an economically depressed city of about 100,000 people, started getting its water from the Flint River about two years. It previously bought Lake Huron water through the city of Detroit. The state government made that change to cut costs.

Soon after the switch, the water started to look, smell and taste funny. People complained.

It was discovered the water had high levels of iron, from the Flint River, and contained lead from hange to cut costs.

What You Need to Know About the Flint Water Crisis

A series of public decisions, driven by misguided management practices and ideological principles that backfired, converged during the past 20 months to poison the city’s drinking water and cause one of the most severe public health threats in the U.S. The extent of the risk to Flint’s residents is not clear.

Flint’s crisis is the third time during the administration of Republican Gov. Rick Snyder that decisions about water supply and water quality at the most senior levels of state government have put state residents in harm’s way. In 2014, again as a result of the governor’s decision to appoint an emergency manager in Detroit, drinking water services were cut off for thousands of city residents said to be in arrears on their water bills. But water services for many of the city’s largest commercial water consumers, which owed the city water department millions of dollars in unpaid charges, were not halted.

The Snyder administration, according to business owners and residents in northern Michigan, has been slow to respond to the threat of a major Great Lakes oil spill from two 63-year-old pipelines that transport 540,000 barrels of oil a day across the Straits of Mackinac at the top of Lake Michigan. An environmental law group in Traverse City, For the Love of Water, has argued that other existing onshore pipelines are available to transport oil to Great Lakes refineries and that Gov. Snyder has the legal authority to shut down Line 5 and prevent what the group called an “imminent risk.”

A key consideration: the poisoning of Flint is the reality of voter apathy and voter inclinations to forget, GOP politics is overwhelmingly that of constituent groups not of the middle class and lower income strata. The basic GOP political paradigm is governance for the nation’s Top 20%, with consequential tax cuts, budget cuts, and cut costs even in the reality of loss or damaged lives.  While the Michigan Governor was not in office as Detroit economically collapsed, his Republican inclination to enact inhumane budget-cuts has lead to catastrophe for Michigan’s seventh-largest city.

Let there be no mistake the poisoning of Flint is a gubernatorial indictment of Rick Snyder and GOP political policy and practice.  In December 2015, The Rachel Maddow Show ran a segment that should be viewed by anyone who feels there are responsibility for the poisoning beyond the elected GOP governor.  The segment is a bit long, but I remind of a critical credo: Information is not a 40 character-sound bite process; it takes time and contemplation. Republicans thrive of Americans who do not enact that process, and who simply walk away from soundbite rhetoric inseminated with GOP propaganda developed to enact votes.

Flint toxic water tragedy points directly to Michigan Gov. Snyder

Rachel Maddow reports on the poisoning of Flint, Michigan residents when their water supply was switched, and shows explicitly how responsibility for the tragedy falls to Governor Rick Snyder and his radical, anti-democratic policies.

The recent GOP Debate included politicians, an entertainer, and a virtual nut case former doctor who if elected would make Snyder’s deadly cost-cutting measures seem pale in relation to their potential for nation killing.

On January 13, The Hill reported the Paul Ryan led House voted to over-rule President Obama’s “Water Rule.”

US Media Via Talking Head Paid Pundits On Iranian Seizure Of US Naval Vessels: "Hostages"

In Hostages?, http://schemas.google.com/blogger/2008/kind#post, MSNBC, Ted Cruz, US Media Jingoist Bluster, US sailors released on January 13, 2016 at 2:08 PM

In early December noted GOP demagogue and Canadian-born (ineligible for the USD presidency) Senator, Ted Cruz, delivered a speech in Iowa that traipsed on violations of international law and skirted common human decency. While speaking about external threats to the United States, Cruz declared carpet bombing the city of Raaqa as a strategy for eliminating ISIS.  Problem: Raaqa is the home of hundreds of thousands of Syrian citizens. Many of which have no affiliation with ISIS, and who are without doubt suffering under the oppression of ISIS tyranny.

Of course, the reality of murdering hundreds of thousands of olive-skinned non-Jewish Middle Easterners is of no concern to Cruz and his inhumane followers.

Cruz’s Early December speech earmarked at the 14:12-minute mark. After the few seconds of American terror from Cruz, follow my lead; cut the video off. Carpet Bomb em!

Holt and Cruz

Reasons dot com (linked to a piece that took exception to Obama’s SOTU remarks regarding Cruz’s promise to carpet bomb)
In his final State of the Union speech, President Barack Obama went out of his way to call out a comment by GOP presidential hopeful Sen. Ted Cruz. In an early December speech in Iowa, Cruz said that if he wins..

“we will have a president who will make clear we will utterly destroy ISIS. We will carpet bomb them into oblivion. I don’t know if sand can glow in the dark, but we’re going to find out.”

Later that month, CNN’s Wolf Blitzer pressed Cruz to clarify his remark during a debate:

“To be clear, Sen. Cruz, would you carpet-bomb Raqqa, the ISIS capital, where there are a lot of civilians? Yes or no?”

This was Cruz’s reply:

“You would carpet bomb where ISIS is—not a city, but the location of the troops. You use air power directed—and you have embedded special forces to direction the air power. But the object isn’t to level a city. The object is to kill the ISIS terrorists.

How disturbing to rational, non-jingoist Americans?

During last night’s State of the Union Speech, President Obama’s last SOTU, the president took effective (and professional) issue with Cruz’s comment.

We need “more than tough talk or calls to carpet bomb civilians,” Obama said, adding: “That may work as a TV sound bite, but it doesn’t pass muster on the world stage.”

It should be noted the Reason’s excerpt above is from a piece in which the author took exception to President Obama’s addressing Cruz’s comment.  The author went through a rationalizing mental exercise on Cruz’ actually meaning vs. his clear doubled-down on his statement.  How would the same author have dealt with any comment from President Obama in a similar manner? The question is rhetorical: No, the author would attack any comment from the president regardless of personal interpretation. Ultimately, Cruz made the comment and doubled-down on the comment. Thus, it became fair game and required attention at the very international SOTU.

Cruz as one of the GOP’s most prolific demagogues is not secret.  He exhibited an even higher level of insane demagoguery during an interview after the SOTU. NBC’s Lester Holt provided a literal political ad for Cruz, I suppose, under the guise of seeking good air-time for conservative viewers.  Holt asked about the president’s remarks.

Holt asked Cruz about the seizing of two US naval vessel by Iranian coast Gaurd ships.  If should be noted, one of the naval vessels was reported to have veered into Iranian protectorate waters due to a malfunction. Cruz jumped to use of the word “hostages.” The dirtiest of words when one considers Iran based on the Iranian takeover of the US embassy in the late 1970s.
Before the Cruz dog-whistle (“hostages”), let’s accomplish a bit of true journalism. We offer a review of early details regarding the seized vessels.

We should also note CNN was so full of US jingoist bluster as the network approached the SOTU.

The network filled its camera segments with talking heads who, in some cases, demanded president Obama address the Iranian seizure during the SOTU. How Republican and jingoist of David Gergen?  MSNBC joined in with a phone interview of one of its most noted jingoist former General McCaffrey

.

The former general actually if the seizure an act  of war the US should not tolerate. The network interviewer nor the former general made any reference to the prospect of the vessel veering off course and suffering the seizure.  Wouldn’t the US had done same with an intrusion into US waters?

As promised, the Iranians released the sailors this morning.

Released

There was a time in US media when such jingoism and post released commentary would have centered on why the level of pure anger in the face of reports of a violation by US warships in the waters of a sovereign nation?  I suspect most coverage of the incident is taking place with conservative guests on cable news with heavy doses of “Obama is weak.”
