Kochs: "Plutocrat" (And they will come for you…)

In David and Charles Koch, John Birch Society, Kochs exposed on December 29, 2013 at 10:17 AM

The ultimate plutocrats
Please watch the video below and share this and other related articles on social media forums so that we can expose the Koch Brothers and their sinister purchasing of our economic discourse.

While this video is widely circulated and has been viewed by millions, there can never be enough exposure of these people. Born into wealth via a father who had co-founding roots in the John Birch Society, their efforts to ascend to non-elected leadership the US government is as dangerous as any external threat to our nation.

Robert Greenwald’s “Koch Brothers Exposed” (Full)

Published on Aug 23, 2012
Koch Brothers Exposed is a hard-hitting investigation of the 1% at its very worst. This full-length documentary film on Charles and David Koch—two of the world’s richest and most powerful men—is the latest from acclaimed director Robert Greenwald (Wal-Mart: the High Cost of Low Price, Outfoxed, Rethink Afghanistan). The billionaire brothers bankroll a vast network of organizations that work to undermine the interests of the 99% on issues ranging from Social Security to the environment to civil rights. This film uncovers the Kochs’ corruption—and points the way to how Americans can reclaim their democracy.

What can you do to fight back? Get the film. Host a screening. Tell your friends. Get the Koch brothers out of the shadows and into the spotlight.
10 Shocking Facts on the Kochs
1. Koch Industries, which the brothers own, is one of the top ten polluters in the United States — which perhaps explains why the Kochs have given $60 million to climate denial groups between 1997 and 2010.
2. The Kochs are the oil and gas industry’s biggest donors to the congressional committee with oversight of the hazardous Keystone XL oil pipeline. They and their employees gave more than $300,000 to members of the House Energy and Commerce Committee in 2010 alone.
3. From 1998-2008, Koch-controlled foundations gave more than $196 million to organizations that favor polices that would financially enrich the two brothers. In addition, Koch Industries spent $50 million on lobbying and some $8 million in PAC contributions.
4. The Koch fortune has its origins in engineering contracts with Joseph Stalin’s Soviet Union.
5. The Kochs are suing to take over the Cato Institute, which has accused the Kochs of attempting to destroy the group’s identity as an independent, libertarian think and align it more closely with a partisan agenda.
6. A Huffington Post source who was at a three-day retreat of conservative billionaires said the Koch brothers pledged to donate $60 million to defeat President Obama in 2012 and produce pledges of $40 million more from others at the retreat.
7. Since 2000, the Kochs have collected almost $100 million in government contracts, mostly from the Department of Defense.
8. Koch Industries has an annual production capacity of 2.2 billion pounds of the carcinogen formaldehyde. The company has worked to keep it from being classified as a carcinogen even though David Koch is a prostate cancer survivor.
9. The Koch brothers’ combined fortune of roughly $50 billion is exceeded only by that of Bill Gates in the United States.
10. The Senate Select Committee on Indian Affairs accused Koch Oil of scheming to steal $31 million of crude oil from Native Americans. Although the company claimed it was accidental, a former executive in this operation said Charles Koch had known about it and had responded to the overages by saying, “I want my fair share, and that’s all of it.”

The Dangers of Having A Koch!

On January 20th, 2009, Barack Obama shortly after inaugurated 44th President of the United States of America, a group of right-wing politicians and GOP party operatives meet secretly plotted GOP obstruction against the nation. The obstruction literally commenced on January 21st, 2009 and has run as consistently and reliably as the rising and setting sun

While all MSNBC hosts have performed admirably in covering the “Great Obstruction Meeting,” We think Al Sharpton has devoted more research and air-time to early obstruction we “off-the-cuff” refer to as the beginning of GOP sedition.

Where were these plutocrats during the eight horrible years of Bush/Cheney?  While we would like to think the obstructionist have issues with our president based on his party affiliation and his opposite economic policy, we are reticent to go there. Obama policies economically and as Commander-in-Chief have so outpaced Bush it is actually embarrassing. Now, what other factors could lead to so much effort money-contributed, money-spent and outright obstruction that is detrimental to is all? The question is rhetorical.

Let’s follow a few major news sources from the 2009 obstruction planning session through the Ed Messe, Koch meeting of a week ago.

Robert Draper Book: GOP’s Anti-Obama Campaign Started Night Of Inauguration

WASHINGTON — As President Barack Obama was celebrating his inauguration at various balls, top Republican lawmakers and strategists were conjuring up ways to submarine his presidency at a private dinner in Washington.
The event — which provides a telling revelation for how quickly the post-election climate soured — serves as the prologue of Robert Draper’s much-discussed and heavily-reported new book, “Do Not Ask What Good We Do: Inside the U.S. House of Representatives.”
According to Draper, the guest list that night (which was just over 15 people in total) included Republican Reps. Eric Cantor (Va.), Kevin McCarthy (Calif.), Paul Ryan (Wis.), Pete Sessions (Texas), Jeb Hensarling (Texas), Pete Hoekstra (Mich.) and Dan Lungren (Calif.), along with Republican Sens. Jim DeMint (S.C.), Jon Kyl (Ariz.), Tom Coburn (Okla.), John Ensign (Nev.) and Bob Corker (Tenn.). The non-lawmakers present included Newt Gingrich, several years removed from his presidential campaign, and Frank Luntz, the long-time Republican wordsmith. Notably absent were Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) — who, Draper writes, had an acrimonious relationship with Luntz.
For several hours in the Caucus Room (a high-end D.C. establishment), the book says they plotted out ways to not just win back political power, but to also put the brakes on Obama’s legislative platform.

The Conspiracy to Commit Legislative Constipation

In a scene reminiscent of the summit meeting of mob bosses in The Godfather, Republican House leaders were summoned by evil marshmallow and message-crafter Frank Luntz to hash out a strategy to cope with the defeat of their party in 2008 and the election of the newly inaugurated President Obama, according to Robert Draper’s just published book Do Not Ask What Good We Do: Inside the U.S. House of Representatives.
During a lengthy discussion, the senior GOP members worked out a plan to repeatedly block Obama over the coming four years to try to ensure he would not be re-elected.
In his book, Draper opens with the heady atmosphere in Washington on the days running up to the inauguration and the day itself, which attracted 1.8 million to the mall to witness Obama being sworn in as America’s first black president.
Obstruction has worked well for the GOP in many arenas. While obstruction has not undermined a dynamic president with the right agenda, it has slowed economic improvement and has factually contributed to divisiveness never before seen in the nation.

The perfect example of obstruction is the continuing battles from the Right against President Obama’s signature health care reform legislation. Obstruction funded and fueled by under wealthy plutocrats like David and Charles Koch.  Since we have written extensively about the Kochs (search Koch brothers this site) we will defer extensive comment about their DNA that reaches back to the founding of the John Birch Society. We will not delve deeper into their major backing of the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC). And, we will not spend time on their efforts to re-segregate schools in some communities (See North Carolina). Since you are high information voters, we assume you know the Kochs are top level Libertarian; that means compassion for people is not a trait among the brothers.

The obstruction of “all things Obama” seems common among ultra conservatives and it appears an utmost strategy of the Kochs. Whenever we read or hear about major political (PAC) contributions from ultra conservatives two names seem to show-up: David and Charles Koch.

Yesterday, The Economic Policy Journal webpage published a good synopsis piece about a much greater story. A former GOP top level administration official and the Kochs have again perpetrated what we refer to as a form of sedition.  During the post-Bush years any obstruction to the prospect of improving the nation’s economy works again the general welfare of the nation.

Koch Brothers and Ed Meese Join Together To Oppose Obamacare
Given the pro-government positions on some topics, the Kochs and Ed Meese may be useful anti-Obamacare tools and cheer them on, but always keep in mind that they can only be supported on an ad hoc basis when their advocacy falls in line with liberty. I won’t always.
Bottom line: The Koch brothers joined with Ed Meese are far from LewRockwell.com.
Here’s NYT:
Shortly after President Obama started his second term, a loose-knit coalition of conservative activists led by former Attorney General Edwin Meese III gathered in the capital to plot strategy. Their push to repeal Mr. Obama’s health care law was going nowhere, and they desperately needed a new plan.
Out of that session, held one morning in a location the members insist on keeping secret, came a little-noticed “blueprint to defunding Obamacare,” signed by Mr. Meese and leaders of more than three dozen conservative groups.
It articulated a take-no-prisoners legislative strategy that had long percolated in conservative circles: that Republicans could derail the health care overhaul if conservative lawmakers were willing to push fellow Republicans — including their cautious leaders — into cutting off financing for the entire federal government.
“We felt very strongly at the start of this year that the House needed to use the power of the purse,” said one coalition member, Michael A. Needham, who runs Heritage Action for America, the political arm of the Heritage Foundation. “At least at Heritage Action, we felt very strongly from the start that this was a fight that we were going to pick.”
Last week the country witnessed the fallout from that strategy: a standoff that has shuttered much of the federal bureaucracy and unsettled the nation.

During today’s non-scheduled press conference, President Obama finally spoke about uber wealthy plutocrats who work against the good of the nation beyond their own self interest.

Addictinginfo: Ron Paul, Not Racist, Seriously? "Facts are Stubborn Things!"

In Addictinginfo, Facts are stubborn things, John Birch Society, Nathaniel Downes, Ron Paul on August 22, 2013 at 4:33 PM

We have expended many hours on Ron Paul and his racism. Paul contends he is not racist despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary. Paul has received major support from white supremacist groups. He has been photographed with Don Black of StormFront Dot Org. He published racist newsletters years ago. Of course, he denied writing the passages in the newsletters, but a former administrative assistant indicated he certainly exercised editorial authority over the news letters. Paul was also reported by an Anonymous hacking probe to have sat-in on a white supremacist conference call during the 2008 presidential cycle.

Nathaniel Downes walks us through Paul’s latest episode.

Ron Paul Forgets That He’s Not Racist And Plans To Attend Anti-Semitic Conference

Author August 22, 2013 1:53 am
ron paul2
Ron Paul has a racist problem. He is well known for a series of gaffes which have made him sound racist. Leaked documents show him with ties to racist groups. And let’s not forget those newsletters of his. If there is a way to appear to be bigoted, Ron Paul is there.
The John Birch Society has similarly been plagued by claims of racism. From their earliest history, back when they claimed Eisenhower was a Communist, they have been bankrolled by big money, anti-government interests. Identified with various racist movements over the years, the John Birch Society is a loud and proud anti-American organization, dedicated to destroying the ideal of “We the People” in order to impose their own brand of dictatorship – rule by the white, male majority (“No Irish Need Apply“).
And now, both Ron Paul and John Birch Society president, John McManus, are on the schedule to speak at Fatima: ThePath To Peace,” a conference put together by the Society of Saint Pius X, an organization labelled by the Southern Poverty Law Center as a “Radical Powerhouse in the anti-Semitic movement. As reported, the SSPX has released articles where they pushed anti-Semitic ideals, with this as an example passage held up by the order:
In the Catholic Middle Ages the Jews were relatively impotent to harm Christendom, but as Catholics have grown over the centuries since then weaker and weaker in the faith, especially since Vatican II, so the Jews have come closer and closer to fulfilling their substitute-Messianic drive towards world dominion.
Jews for world domination? There was a powerful speaker several decades ago who claimed the same thing. We now hold up his name as an epitaph for racism after he murderedsix million of them, along with countless other minorities in his drive for racial purity. What kind of “peace” can be discussed by these radicals when, in the past, that discussion has ended in mass murder, the epitome of such hate speech?
The press release for the conference itself described it well:
All speakers share one thing in common, a keen understanding that the nations of the world suffer profound disorder, that evil and shocking immorality are on the rise, that war and violence steadily increase, that the stability of our entire social order is at stake, and that a solution to the present chaos is of utmost necessity.
A solution, a final solution, to stabilize the social order – a social order whereby only the racially and ideologically pure have any rights and all others are either serfs or are fit only for extermination. Sound familiar? This peace is a peace by destruction.
That anyone would attend such a conference is disgusting and horrifying in this day and age. The radical right-wings total embrace of an almost Daffy Duck level of “It’s Mine, Mine, All Mine” has resulted in their merging with the worst aspects of human nature. That a one-time serious contender for the GOP’s presidential nomination is now cavorting with overt racists seeking nothing less than the total subjugation of any “lesser races” leaves observers with a bad taste… and leaves Ron Paul with yet another reason to be called a racist.
