Jon Stewart Interviews President Obama "One Last Time"

In "One Last Time.", Jon Stewart, President Obama, The Daily Show on July 22, 2015 at 8:43 AM

Yesterday July 21, 2015, President Obama sat with The Daily Show’s Jon Stewart on “One Last Time.”  Stewart is leaving The Daily Show next month and Obama leaves the White Office just over a year later. The interview is not typical Stewart fare, but it offers bits of humor just enough to entertain his humor seeking audience viewers. The segment, however, is more important a historic set of minutes with a president who has broken the mold of past US presidents.

If you are looking for words to accompany the segments, look no farther, there are no words from the TPI. Stewart and President Obama “did it well.”

Ben Carson

If you are in a position to listen to an audio of a candidate for the GOP nomination in 2016, take the time. I have long posited Ben Carson is inane. Maybe, one too many neuro-surgeries; in any case his mind is “full gone.” He now states Planned Parenthood was chartered to eliminate Black People.
Carson’s rhetoric is of course, ridiculous, but let’s explore a couple of degrees of his insanity. First, Planned Parenthood provides service well beyond abortion. Are those services a cloaked operational reality to trick black people into facilities their facilities. Next, Carson’s comments will certainly strike millions as an attractive prospect. Thus, Carson is suggesting a party with an anti-abortion platform would also provide a desired state of “eliminating Black People.”  A bit in congruent in many ways.  Additionally, lest we forget, white women also seek abortion, from time to time.

Yes, Ben Carson is showing signs of mental degeneration. The former neuro-surgeon he has to come up with something to grab a piece of the spotlight from Donald Trump. Carson grabbed a debunked claim for a 2012 “crazy:” Herman Cain.

Politifact : Cain claims Planned Parenthood founded for “planned genocide”

Cain

Said Planned Parenthood’s early objective was

Pants on Fire!to “help kill black babies before they came into the world.”  Herman Cain on Tuesday, March 15th, 2011 in a talk at a conservative think tank

Right-wing Watch

In an interview with Iowa talk radio host Jan Mickelson, Carson responded with outrage to an audio clip of President Obama saying “God bless you” during a speech to Planned Parenthood.
“You wonder if he actually knows the history of Planned Parenthood and Margaret Sanger, who was trying to eliminate black people,” he said. “That was the whole purpose of it.”
Carson planned parenthood bent on eliminating black people

Generally speaking, the nation should have an expectation candidates for the White House secure their “news” from sources other than Right-wing media or right-wing nut jobs such as Herman Cain.

Rand Paul (Yawn!)
Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) vowed Friday that he would force a vote on defunding Planned Parenthood in the wake of a viral video that showed its top doctor discussing fetal organs.

Paul could seek to attach a measure defunding the group to a highway funding bill the Senate must pass by a July 31, deadline. The House has already passed a short-term fix, and the upper chamber is working to draft and move legislation quickly.
In his statement, Paul did not specifically point to the transit bill, but said he would “use all legislative vehicles at his disposal.”

Yes, the Fox and Friends “went there!” Do you think anyone at the network believes their audience might have knowledge of and empathy for oceanic food chains, and the value of predators in oceans that cover two thirds of Earth? Well, on second thought and with consideration of the Fox and Friends audience, probably the segment hit safe ears and brains.

What is the good of a propaganda network if its lies are corrected upon discovery?

They still haven’t corrected it.

Confederate Flag: Nine Dead, Killer Got Burger King (W/Cheese) And GOP Upset About Downing The Flag

In 'Southern Avenger', Confederate flag, Jack Hunter, Jon Stewart on June 25, 2015 at 4:49 PM

The NAACP, many Democrats, virtually all African-Americans and the vast majority of US progressives and independents have longed for a time when the US South and the GOP were forced to abandon the “Stick in the eye” manifest in brazen flying the flag of the US Confederacy.

The issue supersedes Jim Crow, State’s Rights and the very successful GOP “Southern Strategy,” and stands as a hallmark guidepost of US racism. bias and bigotry.  Watch as one spin off from a well publicizes tea party event visited the home of the nation’s African-American president. An event at which Sarah Palin, Ted Cruz and Mike Lee was as visible as a camera hogging ego maniac.

No mater the rhetoric and outcry about misrepresentation of the flag of the Confederacy, all speakers know its history, they know its meaning and they are manipulating when they “feign” no harm meant, no harm done.
Another very well known advisor to Rand Paul carved a visual niche via use of the flag and without question garnered significant support for his “act.”  Thus, he gained additional notoriety from Paul The Younger” whose father has a well documented history of racism and total intolerance regarding issues of race.

Jack Hunter, The Southern Avenger, rode the wings of the flag like that of a splendid and proud Bald Eagle as a national moniker for America. Unlike some on the Right who continue to whine about nascent disenfranchisement of the flag, the Southern Avenger now sings.

Image result for Dylann Roof’s manifesto.

Jack Hunter, Former ‘Southern Avenger’, Repudiates Former Hateful Stance

When I first read former ‘Southern Avenger’ Jack Hunter’s column in The Daily Beast, I was pretty skeptical. In the column, he claims to have repented of his racist ways and is ashamed of them now. I argued the Confederate flag wasn’t about race. I believed it. Millions of well-meaning Southerners believe it too. I was…

Rand Paul Chameleon

Rand Paul is a Chameleon. He will say whatever it takes to garner the attention of an audience and he frequently spews inane drivel that is disingenuous and frankly with motive.

I run this piece on The Progressive Influence at least once per week. I refuse to accept that viewing the video segment is a waste. When an elected US Senator visits a university campus (Louisville University in Kentucky) and speaks about the utility of misinformation, the senator can’t say anything that should be considered credible, in my mind.
2000s
  • Letter to the editor, Bowling Green Daily News, 2002-05-30
Rand Paul in ’02: I may not like it, but ‘a free society’ will allow ‘hate-filled groups to exclude people based on the color of their skin'”,
  • I would introduce and support legislation to send Roe v. Wade back to the states.
  • We have people coming in by the millions…Am I absolutely opposed to immigration? No…We have to find a way to believe in the rule of law, believe in border control and at the same time, not villify the issue.
2010s

  • I never, ever cheated [in medical school]. I don’t condone cheating. But I would sometimes spread misinformation. This is a great tactic. Misinformation can be very important. We spread the rumor that we knew what was on the test and it was definitely going to be all about the liver. We tried to trick all of our competing students into over-studying for the liver. “So, that’s my advice,” he concluded. “Misinformation works.”

Video added via The PARDUPaul at University of Louisville

  • Rachel Maddow:  Do you think that a private business has the right to say we don’t serve black people?
  • Rand Paul: I’m not in favor of any discrimination of any form; I would never belong to any club that excluded anybody for race. We still do have private clubs in America that can discriminate based on race. But I think what’s important about this debate is not written into any specific “gotcha” on this, but asking the question: what about freedom of speech? Should we limit speech from people we find abhorrent? Should we limit racists from speaking? I don’t want to be associated with those people, but I also don’t want to limit their speech in any way in the sense that we tolerate boorish and uncivilized behavior because that’s one of the things freedom requires is that we allow people to be boorish and uncivilized, but that doesn’t mean we approve of it. I think the problem with this debate is by getting muddled down into it, the implication is somehow that I would approve of any racism or discrimination, and I don’t in any form or fashion.
  • I do defend and believe that the government should not be involved with institutional racism or discrimination or segregation in schools, busing, all those things. But had I been there, there would have been some discussion over one of the titles of the civil rights. And I think that’s a valid point, and still a valid discussion, because the thing is, is if we want to harbor in on private businesses and their policies, then you have to have the discussion about: do you want to abridge the First Amendment as well. Do you want to say that because people say abhorrent things — you know, we still have this. We’re having all this debate over hate speech and this and that. Can you have a newspaper and say abhorrent things? Can you march in a parade and believe in abhorrent things, you know?

That last statement is indicative of a Chameleon who could not change her/his colors in time to completely obliterate unwanted disclosure.

Paul recently sat with The Daily Show’s Jon Stewart. If he could be believed, he could be an interesting person. Well, correction, he could be an interesting person if he wasn’t the son of one Ron Paul and if he possessed a modicum of cogent thought and accompanying oral wherewithal.
