When a Republican says, “I took it seriously. Be aware!”

Excerpt
Donny Ferguson, communications director and agriculture policy adviser for Rep. Steve Stockman, R-Friendswood, spent $27.58 to feed himself for a week. That amount is a few dollars less than the $31.50 the program, the modern food-stamp program, gives participants, including 4 million Texans.
He got the idea after reading about House Democrats who tried the same thing last week and found it difficult.
“Most of the Democrat lawmakers participating in the stunt are intentionally buying overpriced food or over-dramatizing things to agitate for more government spending,” he said. “I took it seriously.”
ExcerptOn day four of the experiment, Ferguson’s experience has been vastly different. He said he hasn’t felt fatigued — and he doesn’t drink coffee, either. He’s even up two pounds.
But that might not be an indication of health. Deanna Hoelscher, a professor the University of Texas at Austin School of Public Health, looked at Ferguson’s purchases and menu.
“Looking at the foods he purchased … thy’re high in sugar, high in sodium,” she said, noting he did not buy any fresh fruits or vegetables. “If you look at the dietary guidelines, half of your plate should be fruits and vegetables.”
The high sugar can lead to weight gain and lack of fruits and vegetables can lead to heart disease, high blood pressure and increases the risk of cancer, Hoelscher said.
On $31.50 a week, Hoelscher said, it is possible to eat healthy, but it takes a knowledge of nutrition and time to prepare meals.

MARIO PIPERNI: " Who Needs Immigrants….?"
In Bachmann, Bush, Cain, Mario Piperni, Palin, Perry on June 22, 2013 at 3:28 PMWho Needs Immigrants When You Can Breed Your Own Voters
Sad day for liberals. The jig is up.
As much as liberals wanted to conceal the real reason they felt so strongly about immigration reform, they simply weren’t smart enough to outfox the likes of Bryan ‘Sherlock‘ Fischer of the American Family Association. Fischer revealed to his listeners the true motive behind liberals’ attempt at comprehensive immigration reform.
Conservatives are just outbreeding liberals and that’s a huge problem for liberals…because there’s just going to be more conservatives…10, 20 years down the road, they’re just going to be outnumbered. And that’s why they are so dedicated to amnesty.
We are breeding our own voters. We are conceiving our own voters. They’ve got to import them. They’re not producing them so they’ve got to import them. So, that’s why they’re so enamored with illegal aliens and amnesty for them is they’ve got to find some way to get these people on the voter rolls to just maintain numerical parity with conservatives.
Great point! Conceiving is always preferable to importing and as always another astute analysis by a conservative.
I need to ask again: why do conservatives get all the smart ones? Palin, Beck, Gohmert, Bachmann, Bush, Perry, Cain – the list goes on and on and on…

SodaStream Drops Limbaugh! 2600 Enlightened Sponsors And Moving Forward
In Marion Young, Rush Limbaugh on June 22, 2013 at 2:44 PMAnother Major Advertiser Dumps Rush Limbaugh – Boycotters Rejoice
Leslie Salzillo June 18, 2013
Well, it’s a good day. Another major sponsor has pulled their advertising from the Rush Limbaugh Show which is part of Clear Channel Radio’s am ‘Hate Parade.’ Over 2600 national and local companies have succumbed to the Rush Limbaugh boycotts and petitions. Thousands of everyday people, as well as activists, have jumped on board to protest and put an end to Limbaugh’s blatant racism, sexism and gay-hating bigotry which he spins three hours a day, five days a week.
This time, the bailing company is SodaStream. SodaStream has been disregarding the boycotters for months, sending ambiguous replies to concerned consumers who have been reaching out to the company via messages, tweets, facebook-posts, phone calls and faxes. The mammoth soda maker finally buckled and the public couldn’t be more pleased.

Facebook Flubs Up Again!
In Facebook on June 22, 2013 at 1:37 PMFacebook has again admitted to security failures which may have exposed 6 million sets of privacy information of its users. Is it too much to wonder why such a social media giant which consistently tinkers with our information and various (information seeking) gadgets would do a much better job in the realm of technical security competence?
On Friday, Facebook admitted that a bug made the private contact information — either email addresses or phone numbers — of 6 million users accidentally accessible to Facebookers who downloaded their account histories onto their own computers. Compared to Facebook’s over 1 billion total members, 6 million isn’t much. But any security flaw has the potential to frighten people away from a website.
A bug allowed “some of a person’s contact information (email or phone number) to be accessed by people who either had some contact information about that person or some connection to them,” Facebook wrote in a note on its security page.
Facebook and other technicality advanced Internet media really should give their engineers a few weeks hiatus. Almost weekly Facebook and other social media are announcing changes in platforms, widgets, gadgets, and other features which often become irritants for many people.
Facebook, give it a break!
Billionaire Tom Seyer Against Keystone XL Pipeline
In Uncategorized on June 22, 2013 at 9:57 AMTom Steyer announces the We Love Our Land campaign at the National Press Club in Washington, DC. A jar of tar sands oil sits on the podium. Photo credit: Samuel Hurd. |
“President Obama is very smart. He understands our energy and climate crisis,” said Steyer. “The arguments for Keystone were a house of cards, and that house collapsed weeks ago when local Canadian government officials withdrew their support for a Keystone alternative coming across their lands. We want voters to know the pipeline doesn’t stand up against serious scrutiny. We’re betting that they can help the President make the right decision and reject Keystone.”

If you are not at least somewhat concerned about British Columbia’s rejection the Enbridge (Northern Gateway) Pipeline, and pressure on our government to approve the pipeline, you might have a vested interest.
