Do you recall the following video piece of GOP bravado as the party (elected officials and anointed operatives) worked to placate their “dark money” oligarchs? Mike Pence (R) Ind. in 2011 was all about “Shut it down.”  While the shutdown did not take place over issues promulgated by Pence in 2011, the GOP handed their key constituents (uber wealthy backers) a shutdown in 2013. The final $24 billion hit to the nation’s GDP, during periods of focused efforts at improving the US economy, was not only irrational and politically obscene, it yielded not one iota of ransom to the GOP.

He, as Governor of Indiana, now faces businesses, previous lucrative business deals and investment opportunities leaning away from the state based on his signature on the Religious Freedom Law. The latest of 20 states with majority Republican political leadership leading in state sanctioned discrimination on the basis of religion.  Now Pence’s 2011 stewardship in “Shut It Down,” seems to have boomeranged from Indiana’s step into GOP regression.
Yes, Pence was most vocal in “Shut it down.” Aren’t the nook and crannies of life amazing. Wonder if Pence knew his path to the White House would entail governorship of his southern state (Indiana) and an eventually blunder comparable to any from today’s GOP? Last week, I awarded the Keystone Cop distinction to Washington States McMorris Rodgers and her ill-fated attempt to secure ObamaCare horror stories. Her Facebook requests resulted in comment after comment of support for the ACA and good American stories.

Happy Birthday ObamaCare via Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers!

Pence’s social and political mis-step seems right out of the hyper Christian/homophobic paradigm of people who somehow continue to connect to the Religious Freedom Law. Pence leadership in the Religious Freedom Law, is no surprise base don his extremely tea party aura and obvious repressive core values. What does surprise is his eagerness to join solid Red States in passing such legislation knowing full well it will lead to various forms of discrimination. He followed the GOP script like a good soldier. Now think for a moment about Pence following a script that as Us President ordered via oligarch money brokers to drop bombs on a foreign land? A drastic example, yet nonetheless a real prospect with today’s GOP and its deep pockets money-brokers.

Pence, is now working to “Clarify” the regressive law. CLARIFY? The “explaining” governor appeared on just about all Sunday Morning news show networks (except MSNBC, of course,) with far more than “Clarifying” remarks. I believe the ABC News segment best illustrates the ridiculousness of Pence and the ludicrous nature of his party ideology.

Anybody out there for some GOP “States Rights?”

(Note: three states with Religious Freedom Laws are not historic GOP states: Pennsylvania, Connecticut and rhode Island.)

Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers Stumbles Like a Keystone Cop

In Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers, Cruz As "Federal Exchange" enrollee, GOP, The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) (AKA #Obamacare) on March 27, 2015 at 2:15 PM

The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) (AKA #Obamacare) turned five years on Federal registers this week. Despite formidable obstruction from Republicans and obscene levels of wasted US capital expended in attempt to repeal the law, we have experience and benefit to America as such:

The number of actual repeal ACA votes is even in dispute. Democrats assert the GOP frivolously enacted 56 votes, while Reuters reports Republican congressional aides claim 67 votes. Repeal ACA votes US taxpayers $1.4 million per vote. The math points to a unfathomable waste of ($1.4 mil X 56 votes) $80 million USD (rounded to the nearest 10 million). The figure resulted from multiplication of the Democrat number of 56 votes. Now, let’s consider the Republican 67 votes. Before the next exercise in basic math, why would the GOP want moderately more frivolous votes without even a dent in the law? Could the repeal votes carry dark repeal vote dark money from wealthy anti-human services oligarchs? Obviously the Republican aides have a motive for promulgating a number that according to most is exaggerated. The math……($1.4 mil X 67 votes= $94 million USD).

As republican efforts to eliminate the ACA continues the rational person should think in terms of motive. Why are supposedly sane elected officials continuing to bark up a tree that seems, to date, insulated from their nefarious legislative efforts?

Take a look at a diagram Facebook Page of one Republican congressional leader, Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers.

This week marks the 5th anniversary of #Obamacare being signed into law. Whether it’s turned your tax filing into a nightmare, you’re facing skyrocketing premiums, or your employer has reduced your work hours, I want to hear about it.

Please share your story with me so that I can better understand the challenges you’re facing: http://mcmorris.house.gov/your-story/
The failed effort to use social media as a weapon against the ACA failed equal GOP flops since President Obama assumed the Oval Office.

Can the party do anything right?

Alternet published a piece with a sample set of responses to the failed effort to seek soundbites and scripts to combat the ACA.
  • And now my daughter, diagnosed with MS at age 22, can have insurance. What do you plan to do with her?
  • My daughter is fighting for her life with stage 3 breast cancer! We are about to enter a second go round of diagnostic procedures and possibly more treatment after two full years of treatment! So yah! The ACA is more than helping! I resent that
  • Hello Congresswoman McMorris Rodgers! I work as the facilitator of a task force that is overseeing the implementation of the Affordable Care Act in Washington State. I have learned that the ACA is helping people who did not previously have health insurance get it. It is helping bring down medical costs. It is improving the quality of care. It is improving experiences of both patients and their families.I work with doctors, nurses, hospital and clinic managers, non-profit service providers, citizens-at-large. Each of them can site an improvement they would like to make to the Act. But whether they are Republican or Democrat, from urban or rural areas, powerful or not, they all say the ACA is working. Can’t you and your Republican colleagues stop trying to repeal this Act and work to make it even more effective? Please?
How is it possible McMorris Rodgers nor her aides could have anticipated overwhelming response contrary to their mission via the Facebook posting? The heartfelt page comments also shed very negative light on McMorris Rodgers‘s posting the Anti-ACA request on a Facebook Page with her family so overtly displayed. The overt depiction of family life, doesn’t bode so well the legislators efforts to eliminate a way that helps so many families. If the image is superimposed over a Facebook Page image of a farm owned by the McMorris family, McMorris Rodgers reminds of family wealth which separates her life from the Americans who responded to her failed strategy.
If you really want a dose of GOP Anti-Obama hysteria Ted “Shutdown the US Government” Cruz made “Federal Exchange” ObamaCare news this week.

CNN post with Cruz speaking with Dana Bash (the full story).

Life in the GOP is a literal mess, and it poses the questions: what is wrong with the American electorate. It is completely unfathomable the extent the electorate would deliver the preponderance of the federal government to people who obviously serve constituents with financial wherewithal over the common people.

Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers should probably have consulted with the nascent Senate leader from the Great State of Arkansas: Tom Cotton (R).
