FOX, CNN and EBOLA

In CNN, Ebola, Fox, McCain on October 15, 2014 at 7:37 PM

Fox News continues its “Tin Hat” coverage of EBOLA.

As part of a piece we published yesterday, the following survey data directly attests to both Fox News and CNN’s obsession with imparting the prospect of EBOLA spreading across the United States like this year’s Influenza.

Washington Post-ABC News poll

Excerpt

While 65 percent of the respondents say they are concerned about a possible “widespread” U.S. epidemic, nearly 8 in 10 with a high school diploma or less education say they are very or somewhat concerned. Among respondents with advanced degrees, about 4 in 10 say they are concerned. Just over 6 in 10 white respondents say they are concerned, compared with 74 percent of nonwhites. And while majorities of all partisan backgrounds express concern about a U.S. epidemic, Republicans express significantly more worry than Democrats.

Ratings, ratings, ratings! This past Sunday CNN’s Candy Crowley relieved John McCain of his standard “drop bombs and attack” President Obama. The announcement of another diagnosis of EBOLA via a nurse in the Dallas area, McCain was allowed (if not encouraged) to attack from another realm.

McCain
“We were told there would never be a case of Ebola in the United States.”
— John McCain on Sunday, October 12th, 2014 in comments on CNN’s “State of the Union”
McCain
False

Within hours Tampa Bay Times’s Poltifiact found McCain’s comments a common lie! While we have grown to expect McCain to take position directly opposite President Obama and whine like a spoiled baby (deprived of the US Presidency), CNN and Network News over-booking the erratic Senator is a bit over-the-top. If you need an example as evidence of his penchant for armed interventions, reflect on his crying about US Obama’s handling of Putin’s threats to Ukraine. Putin, this very week, withdrew Russian troops from the Russian/Ukraine border. The US spent few dollars, and we lost not one troop and received the same results McCain espoused with heavy reliance on bombs and armed threats.

If the networks so relish Obama Derangement John McCain on television every Sunday is a must. Sadly, McCain hasn’t been right about one issues since well before is ill-fated 2008 presidential run…with Sarah Palin (a judgement issue in ad of itself).

I digress. Do you ever believe John McCain will get over his humiliating loss to Obama in 2008? End Digress.
MSNBC broadcast certain hosts who occupy moderate amounts of show time on EBOLA, but the network falls well shy of incessant piston-like questioning of guest after guest on “Can it go airborne?”

CNN and Fox at their finest and most frightening and well before Halloween.

(function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = “//connect.facebook.net/en_US/all.js#xfbml=1”; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs); }(document, ‘script’, ‘facebook-jssdk’));

CNN  “ESIN” (Excitement Single Issues News) fans the flames in a close race with Fox News.  In fact, Fox May lead with guest insanity. CNN actually wins with EBOLA saturation “Excitement News.” Why “ESIN”? Do you recall coverage of Malaysia Airlines MH370 and MH17 airline tragedies? How about CNN on Bergdhal’s release? And when such tragedies quiet down or the public moves away for CNN’s incessant coverage, the network has its ready-at-the-draw Obama Derangement.

(function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = “//connect.facebook.net/en_US/all.js#xfbml=1”; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs); }(document, ‘script’, ‘facebook-jssdk’));

Just before the midterms election a Tea party talking-head opens mouth and utters the “neo-midterm election strategy: EBOLA!

(function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = “//connect.facebook.net/en_US/all.js#xfbml=1”; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs); }(document, ‘script’, ‘facebook-jssdk’));

Let’s revisit Fox News. It is statistically impossible to have so many Fox News show hosts display complete and utter derangement regarding EBOLA without corporate commitment to “FEAR.” Of course, the disease is as dangerous as they come, but Fox News (and the “ESIN” GIANT, CNN) are promulgating a level of fear that boarders on “The sky is falling.”

What we offer next is pure racist. But, racism become fashionable in the US.

"Sunday Morning McCain" Never Challenged About Meeting With ISIS (Jon Stewart VIDEO)

In ISIS, Jon Stewart, McCain, McCain met with ISIS, Sunday News Shows on August 31, 2014 at 12:44 PM

John McCain a misguided WAR HAWK unable to get any satisfaction from Obama’s lack of interest in war. McCain is on Sunday morning news broadcast just about each Sunday. Why hasn’t McCain received one question about the images below and his past ranting about US providing “big weapons” to what he called Syrian rebels (eventually referred to as ISIS or ISIL)?

When will the American public recognize, McCain is a danger to our national interest? If you do not recognize the number and extent of war a President McCain would have perpetrated you are guilty of living in a vacuum. It should stand to rational discernment, if he so favors “bombing” with any international conflict, how can we begin to trust is rhetoric. McCain as president….. the horror and a dreadful thought accompanied by the disgusting thought of Palin in the White House.

Remember when Senator John McCain went to Syria and met with factions of rebels fighting the Assad regime?

As it turns out, the group that he was meeting with was a particular subset of rebels in Syria, who we now know as ISIS.

Jon Fulton (friend of the TPI)

This picture shows John McCain meeting with Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi and Shakir Wahyibi the number one and two leaders of ISIS , and two other ISIS leaders Mohammad Nour and Abu Ibrihim. Why has the right wing owned media chosen to ignore this picture and all questions about McCain meeting with them in this May 29th 2013 Picture ? Why isn’t Shakir Wahyibi’s picture on this FBI wanted poster for the Benghazi raid not newsworthy when its the main talking point against Secretary Clinton ? Why is the only talk about Obama’s “lack of strategy” and none about McCain’s complicity in founding ISIS?

A bit piece from Jon Stewart.

McCain is the ultimate example of tip of the iceberg indicators of how the GOP will administer foreign policy. He shows the extent to which he and his party are gullible and susceptible to their fetish for “bombing” and ordering troops into war zones. It is remarkable McCain’s GOP is infested with elected officials who have shown utter disregard for legislation to assistance veterans and failed to support measures with benefit to active duty troops and their families.

Ukraine and Russia: An Idyllic State For An Old Grandstanding US Politician

In McCain on March 1, 2014 at 2:35 PM

The anticipated crisis in the Ukraine is unraveling just as expected.  Vladimir Putin is a “Cold War(ist)” just as John McCain and Lindsey Graham. We should expect nothing less than invasion (Strategic insertion) from Putin. His actions are no different than we could have expected from McCain had the nation fell into an abyss and elected McCain and Sarah Plain to the White House. For that matter, Mitt Romney would be same.

The GOP is ever-seeking opportunity for military intervention. When they cannot find such, they procreate intervention (WMD). We should be recall McCain “….I voted with Bush  95% of the time.” [ Linked A, Linked B ] He once said the US could be in Iraq for 100 years, he was photographed with an Al Qaeda operative while encouraging Obama to Bomb in Syria, and the man has never found a potential war he did not love. Factually, the links above relegate the warmongering McCain to that of a “non-issue” mouthy old man.

It is also critical to know that McCain’s saber-rattling throughout the morning is pure “self-aggrandizing” lobbying for seats on tomorrow’s Sunday Morning New Shows.
One last thought. Imagine McCain/Palin serving even one term in the White House. Of course, Palin would have quit about one third the way through that horrific thought (McCain/)Palin in the White House).

There is so much to report on developments in the Ukraine. I have posted a few news ‘decks’ via RePost.US.

US Military Industrial Complex Comes Under Scrutiny

In McCain, President Obama, Think Progress on February 25, 2014 at 3:11 PM

Eisenhower warned of the military industrial complex.

Defense Secretary Hagel has proposed (non-specific) defense cuts that will surely shed light on the prophetic statements of a president who served in the 1950s.

A quick illustration of the ridiculousness of US military power and spending. Power can be maintained, we assert, with far less spending.

Now, let’s checkout a few minutes of comment about defense spending and our tendency to occupy nations after wars.

If you want the perfect example of why the Administration should ignore flak sure to come from the Right, here you are: John McCain on the friendly confines of Fox News.

Think Progress November 2009

Last night Fox News, host Greta van Susteren asked former GOP presidential candidate Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) what he thought of reports that President Obama plans announce his intention to send 34,000 additional U.S. troops to Afghanistan. McCain said he’s not concerned about how many troops Obama is sending, he just wants to succeed — regardless of whether we have an exit strategy or not:

VAN SUSTEREN: What do you think about that? Is that a decision that — that you think is a wise one or do you want the full 40,000 that was originally requested?

MCCAIN: Well, I’m not so much concerned about the number because I understand that it may be additional allied troops to help out, too. I’d like to look at the overall strategy. I would like to see the emphasis on succeeding, not on an exit strategy.

Greta, the exit strategy takes care of itself once you succeed just as it did in Iraq. But I’d like to hear the whole thing. I hope the president will make the right decision here. And I would like to support him if he does.

Watch it: (http://youtu.be/y1cX1WFbVPM  direct link added by The Pardu)

At least McCain is consistent; an exit strategy for the war in Iraq has been of little concern to him as well. When running for president, the Arizona senator and fervent Iraq war supporter said he would “be fine with” the U.S. military staying in Iraq for a hundred years and later “excitedly declar[ed] that U.S. troops could be in Iraq for ‘a thousand years’ or a million years,’ as far as he was concerned.”

Push on President Obama and Defense Secretary Hagel, cut where cutting hurts people less.

60 Minutes Fires Continue…..

In 60 Minutes, Al Sharpton, Ayotte, Graham, Issa, McCain, Media Matters on November 8, 2013 at 8:19 PM

….and “fires” is what happens when the nation and its media moves to the Right.

When media moves Right it is without exception in pursuit of revenue yielding ratings that have prove lucrative. Two classic examples are Premiere Network’s and Limbaugh’s daily racist, sexist homophobic and anti-progressive “derangement” and Fox New’s early morning and evening anti-Obama insanity. Both work to return sponsor dollars to Premiere and Fox while feeding lies and misinformation to their ravenous viewers and listeners.

During 2013, we have observed other tepid toe-in-the-water exhibits of misinformation broadcasts from ABC and NBC, along with the astronomically ‘cheap’ and unprofessional 60 Minutes Benghazi episode.

Media Matters has followed the 60 Minutes debacle since its first broadcast. David Brock, Media Matters, sat for a discussion of 60 minutes and the mindset that leads to such journalistic miscarriages.

Earlier today Media Matter’s Eric Bohlert blogged about, How CBS Could Have Avoided The 60 Minutes Benghazi Fiasco.”

Bohlert’s piece is ‘point-on’ regarding an avoidable fiasco precipitated by violating the former standards of network and 60 Minutes executives.

About the time David Brock was speaking with Al Sharpton on MSNBC’s Politics Nation, Media Matters’s Joe Strupp published a piece that completes the cycle on 60 Minutes (management, producers and host Lara Logan) foray into the unfathomable.  The network ‘played’ to ratings and pandered to Benghazi derangement that continues to serve as “the anti-Obama, anti-Hillary, issue of the decade.  The Right is, as you and I know, politicking towards 2016. The media follows Graham, McCain, Issa, Ayotte and others like subservient ducklings nipping-up ratings tidbits of like ducklings nipping morsels from pavement.
Mary Mapes
Former 60 Minutes producer Mary Mapes, who was fired for her role in a controversial 2004 story about President Bush’s service in the Air National Guard, accused CBS News of pandering to a right-wing audience with her former program’s recent Benghazi report, for which the network has been criticized and forced to retract.
“My concern is that the story was done very pointedly to appeal to a more conservative audience’s beliefs about what happened at Benghazi,” Mapes said by telephone from her Texas home. “They appear to have done that story to appeal specifically to a politically conservative audience that is obsessed with Benghazi and believes that Benghazi was much more than a tragedy.”

The problem with 60 Minutes is in the capable hands of the media monitoring organization: Media Matters. It doesn’t take an imagination to know that the Benghazi broadcast was to be a ratings boom. A boom at the expense of truth and credibility for the once storied news magazine. But, those issues pale in comparison to the real danger: Media callousness in seeking ratings and false communication to the viewing public.

As evidence in the Politics Nation piece above, Republican “Banghazi firebrands” and Fox News are continuing to use the story as fodder for low information people who obviously relish Obama Derangement. As stated by Al Sharpton, Fox News has not addressed the two week fizzle of the Dylan Davies story beyond their references to its original broadcast on 60 Minutes. What we ask, what is that other than a form of Fox News propaganda?

Tea Party Rep. Louie Gohmert Accuses Vietnam Vet John McCain Of Being In Bed With Al-Qaeda (VIDEO)

The Republican Party civil war over the government shutdown has boiled over to the point where members of the Tea Party are now accusing moderate Republicans of supporting terrorists. During a speech at the Values Voter Summit in Washington DC, Texas Tea Party Congressman Louie Gohmert viciously attacked John McCain. Gohmert accused the Arizona Republican and Vietnam War veteran of being an ally of Al-Qaeda, the terrorist organization that was responsible for the 9/11 attacks in 2001.

Tea Party Rep. Louie Gohmert says John McCain is a supporter of Al-Qaeda

“I heard just before I came some senator from Arizona,” Gohmert said referring to McCain. “A guy that liked Qadaffi before he wanted to bomb him, a guy that liked Mubarak before he wanted him out, a guy that’s been to Syria and supported Al-Qaeda and rebels. But he was saying today ‘The shutdown has been a fool’s errand.’ And I agree with him. The President and Harry Reid should not have shut this government down.”
Here’s the video via Raw Story:

Why did Gohmert attack McCain?

Why did Gohmert turn on McCain? Because McCain blamed Republicans for the government shutdown and called holding America hostage in the effort to defund Obamacare a “fool’s errand.” McCain had appeared on Fox News before Gohmert spoke at the Summit on Friday.

Here is coverage of Senator McCain’s appearance from Talking Points Memo:

Last week, Republicans used World War II veterans in a shameless political photo-op to make themselves look like heroes. They pretended to care about military vets in order to get good press. But now that a Vietnam War veteran has spoke up in opposition to the Tea Party shutdown, extreme right-wing congressmen like Gohmert are quick to disrespect those who fought for our country. It’s another example of how conservatives are eating their own. If you’re a Republican and you don’t agree with extreme conservatism, the Tea Party sees you as an enemy and they’ll attack you like Gohmert just attacked McCain. Saying such things about any war veteran is despicable. McCain, like him or not, has served America for decades. Attacking his patriotism by insinuating that he’s in bed with Al-Qaeda is unforgivable.

Republicans are being attacked by the Tea Party monster they created

For years, Tea Party Republicans have been relentlessly referring to Democrats as terrorists while moderates like McCain stood by silently. Now those very same Tea Party Republicans are playing the terrorist card on fellow Republicans who aren’t toeing the extreme conservative line. In a way, it’s poetic justice. After all, McCain did choose Tea Party darling Sarah Palin to be his running mate in 2008 and Republicans continued to build the Tea Party monster to serve their purpose of capturing the House two years later. With that monster came violent rhetoric, lies, a rejection of facts, ignorance, name-calling, an extreme right-wing agenda, an unwillingness to compromise, racism, etc… Now Republicans are getting a taste of how the Tea Party has attacked Democrats all these years. How long will Republicans tolerate being attacked by the lunatics in their party before they fight back by doing the right thing and reopen the government?

Fox News And Tuesday Disgust: McCain " …it means Thank God?"

In Doocy, Fox News, Kilmeade, McCain on September 3, 2013 at 11:17 AM

Unspoken, but easily glean-able from McCain’s response was the word, “Idiot.”

Look at the Fox News hosts faces as bigotry and racism are called out
(my words not McCain’s)

Here is more of Fox News’s unique brand of  bigotry/racism and obtuse levels of ignorance.  Brian Kilmeade and the ever-present and (idiotic) Steve Doocy on the SET!  For some reason I do not see the common exhibition of Fox News “Morning leg shots” from the couch.

“Some Say….” (who are “Some?”)

“I don’t know….” (Of course, you don’t know you producers and writers wrote it for you!)

Think Progress…

On Tuesday, Kilmeade pushed back against McCain’s requests by arguing that American weapons could flow to extremists or terrorists in the region linked to Al Qaeda. He then played video of rockets slamming into government-held districts in the central Syrian city of Homs and pointed to opposition group members chanting “Allahu Akbar! Allahu Akbar” as the rockets hit, implying that a reference to the Arab word, which is mainly used by Muslims to refer to God in Islam, betrayed ties to terrorism.
“I have a problem helping those people screaming that after a hit,” he proclaimed.

51 seconds of complete and disgusting entertainment.

I realize some tire of hearing and reading it. But what we have here is nothing shy of American xenophobia mixed with a healthy does of “white privilege” and ‘kneaded’ with unquestionable low ethics, sprinkled on top with lower IQ(itis), and placed in a Fox News oven for final preparation before feeding to Fox News viewers.

Why bother referring to Doocy and Kilmeade’s on-air acts as Islamophobia.  Well it is, but there is more: bigotry and racism!
While we are visiting John McCain and his visit to the comfortable confines of Fox News, how about another shot of McCain vs. “the Ignorance”
During the same segment, and prior to the ignorance in the video above, McCain answered another question from the “UN-Dynamic Duo.”  The segment is 5:00 minutes long, the first half of the segment embodies yet another foray into Fox News idiocy and severe tendency towards misinformation. The last half of the segment is a rehash of the one above and closeout ‘selling” from McCain.

While McCain is a good GOP soldier and pretty much avoids MSNBC, he might find host on MSNBC who are competent and intellectually curious (gifted) enough for questions he can answer without dealing with Fox News ‘scripted” disgust and idiocy.
