MSNBC Caught "Playing" To Conservative Viewers

How can the exhibition of the horrid side of Americana lead to the following from the Morning Joe (and minions) Show? You will notice Morning Joe Show producers booked one of America’s most regressive conservatives to partake in what can only be described as “deflection.” Why not book a more middle-of-the-road conservative for an important and sorely needed critique of an exhibition of Americana the from nation’s most privileged and elitist example of white privilege.  Better yet, why not produce a show that simply laid bare the horrid racism and insensitivity to people who may have lost a loved one to lynching?

The words from Kristol:

“Popular culture becomes a cesspool, a lot corporations profit off of it, and then people are surprised that some drunk 19-year-old kids repeat what they’ve been hearing,” said Bill Kristol. He added that Tipper Gore “tried to raise this issue, and was widely ridiculed,” referring to the parental advisory labels the future V-FLOTUS enacted after her daughter purchased Purple Rain thirty years ago.

“The kids that are buying hip hop or gangster rap, it’s a white audience, and they hear this over and over again,” Joe Scarborough said. “So do they hear this at home? Well, chances are good, no, they heard a lot of this from guys like this who are now acting shocked.”

The video….

According to Mediaite…. “UPDATE — 4:15 p.m. ET: Mika Brzezinski addressed her comments, with Al Sharpton beside her, on MSNBC’s The Cycle Wednesday afternoon. ” Read more and watch the video clip here.
Crooks and Liars also ran the clip from the Cycle. My thoughts? The clip is nothing more than MSNBC working to cleanup a mess from Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski. Frankly, Al Sharpton was noticeable cautious regarding his employers “Stack-ed deck” interview with Ari Melber. Melber did not in any pursue an interview; he merely fulfilled a role from his employer to facilitate Mika’s rambling almost Sarah Palin like comments.

At the end of it all, the only relevant point is why did Joe Scarborough and his co-host even go to HiP Hop/Rap music when the focus should have been on a bus of America’s young practicing racism witnessed since the fall of Jim Crow?

The answer is in accordance with Phil Griffin’s, NBC President’s, edict to un-liberalize the network.

July Jobs Report…A Sign Of An Improving Economy?

In Al Sharpton, Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, Chad Stone, CNN, Great Recession, July Job numbers, MSNBC, President Obama on August 1, 2014 at 7:34 PM

Democrat Party economic policy driven and enacted via the nation’s 44th president is paying dividends. Policy, practice, procedure (3Ps) are working!

July 2014

Fifty-Two (52) straight weeks of job growth; a first since 1997!

In past months, the consistent refrain was: “….but those numbers are low paying insignificant jobs.”   Well, the “shark has turned.” We are reading reports the July jobs report includes jobs growth in categories consider “Middle class.”  I personal find use of the words ‘middle class’ a convenient media labelNonetheless, I respect efforts to differentiate July jobs from other reports that were infested with low paying” hires. Media has to reach the ears and brain of the full spectrum of viewers; maybe “middle class” Jobs properly denotes jobs well about minimum wage level jobs.

The following CNN segment includes an indication of July hires at a level that clearly denotes economic improvement.

A much deeper perspective from the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities (CBPP).

Re-posted with permission from the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities

Center on Budget and Policy Priorities

“Today’s solid jobs report shows a labor market that’s moving in the right direction but still has a ways to go before everyone who wants to work has a reasonable chance of finding a suitable job.  Long-term unemployment (more than 26 weeks) remains a particular problem, and Congress dealt the long-term unemployed a harsh blow when it allowed federal emergency jobless benefits to expire prematurely at the end of last year.  Seven months later, long-term unemployment remains higher than when any of the previous seven emergency unemployment programs expired after previous recessions (see chart).  In addition, the share of the population with a job remains well below where it was at the start of the recession.
“Payroll employment growth has picked up in 2014 and the unemployment rate has fallen faster than expected, but weak labor force participation and persistent long-term unemployment continue to plague the jobs recovery.
“To be counted in the labor force, a person must have a job or be actively looking for one.  When jobs are hard to find, more people stop looking or stay home to care for young children, do home repairs, take courses at the local community college, or the like until job prospects improve.  These people are considered ‘out of the labor force’ rather than unemployed.
“Over the past year and a half, the decline in the unemployment rate has been nearly entirely offset by a decline in labor force participation (the share of the population aged 16 and over working or actively looking for work).  As a result, the share of the population with a job has barely budged from where it plunged in the Great Recession.  Some of the decline in labor force participation reflects the graying of the population, with more Americans reaching retirement age, but economic research suggests that a significant share of it reflects weak demand for labor in a still-somewhat-sluggish recovery.
“Since the start of the Great Recession, long-term unemployment has been much higher and more persistent than at any other time in data that go back to the late 1940s.  People unemployed 27 weeks or longer still compose roughly a third of the unemployed.  That’s down from a peak of over 45 percent in 2010, but remains higher than the pre-Great Recession peak of 26 percent in 1982 (when overall unemployment was 10.1 percent).  While the long-term unemployment rate of 2.0 percent is below the peak of 2.6 percent immediately after the 1981-82 recession, it’s still considerably higher than the 1.3 percent rate when federal emergency jobless benefits for that recession expired in March 1985.
“People need to start returning to the labor force in greater numbers, and long term unemployment needs to fall much more before we can declare the labor market healthy.”
Key points:
  • The unemployment rate edged up to 6.2 percent in July, and 9.7 million people were unemployed.  The unemployment rate was 5.3 percent for whites (0.9 percentage points higher than at the start of the recession), 11.4 percent for African Americans (2.4 percentage points higher than at the start of the recession), and 7.8 percent for Hispanics or Latinos (1.5 percentage points higher than at the start of the recession).
  • Long-term unemployment remains a significant concern.  Roughly a third (32.9 percent) of the 9.7 million people who are unemployed — 3.2 million people — have been looking for work for 27 weeks or longer.  These long-term unemployed represent 2.0 percent of the labor force.  Before this recession, the previous highs for these statistics over the past six decades were 26.0 percent and 2.6 percent, respectively, in June 1983, early in the recovery from the 1981-82 recession.  By the end of the first year of the recovery from that recession, however, the long-term unemployment rate had dropped below 2 percent.

Donald Sterling Proves Racism Is Not Strictly A Cancer Of The Right

In Al Sharpton, Don't walk with black people, Donald Sterling, NAACP, racist phone call, walking with black people on April 27, 2014 at 1:47 AM

Donald Sterling speaks like we know millions speak in America. It is an existential reality it happens behind closed doors, over the telephone or in the heat of “lost control’ arguments.

Since the election of Barack Obama, manifestations of racism have grown exponentially. Sadly, unfettered racism has become so “out-of-the-closet” it permeates in places where least expected.  Sterling owns a professional basketball team! A person can only assume the team is stocked with African-American athletes. (I wouldn’t know as my viewing of pro basketball ceased as the game’s greats moved-off the court into retirement, coaching or the Hall of Fame.) Nonetheless, I believe my assumption about the racial composition of Sterling’s team is a solid “slam dunk.”

Yet, the owner sits on a throne of money and power, and carries himself as if a pre-Civil War plantation owner. The all powerful owner who sits court side and watches his property (highly compensated mind you), play the game. And after the game as with the plantation owner, traipses behind the shed to dabble in some nontraditional sex. He speaks as if a Grand Dragon of the Ku Klux Klan; all while knowing he is dorking a woman who is of racially mixed ancestry: African-American and Latino (Mexican-Hispanic).

http://www.cnn.com/video/data/2.0/video/sports/2014/04/26/nr-lemon-nba-team-owner-alleged-racist-remarks.cnn.html

He suggests she might be stupid for not knowing that you just don’t walk with black people! The woman cannot be completely stupid, she posed the wherewithal to capture the rant. The racist are coming home to a revealing roost.

Yet, there is another problem I find a bit disconcerting. Donald Sterling earned his billions in real estate. I have read he has not only discriminated against black people in the course of his earning millions, he has also been, known for racially charged comments.

The NAACP reacts to Sterlings “alleged” rant.  I am reticent to use the word “alleged’ Since neither Sterling nor his staff have denied the voice on the phone.

http://www.naacp.org/press/entry/naacp-response-to-alleged-statements-by-clippers-owner

April 26, 2014
(Sacramento, CA) – The California State Conference of the NAACP has issued the following statement in response to the alleged remarks by Clippers owner Donald Sterling:

From Alice Huffman, President of the NAACP California State Conference

“If these allegations are proven true, we are extremely disappointed in Mr. Sterling,” stated Alice Huffman, President of the NAACP California State Conference.  “Recent remarks like these, and those of Cliven Bundy, remind us that racism is not a footnote of our past, but a reality of our present that we must confront head on.”

Huffman continued, “For 105 years, the NAACP has fought against the culture bigotry that leads to the comments like those we heard on the recording, and as public response to these remarks has shown, we have made significant progress.

As the investigation is in progress, we urge the LA Branch of the NAACP to withdraw Donald Sterling from the honoree list at its upcoming Gala. We also suggest that African Americans and Latinos should honor his request and not attend the games.”

“If true, these are very hurtful remarks and Mr. Sterling, whose team talents and fan base is majority minority, should offer an apology to Californians.

At the conclusion of the investigation into the alleged comments, if true, we seek further redress from Mr. Sterling.”

###
Founded in 1909, the NAACP is the nation’s oldest and largest nonpartisan civil rights organization. Its members throughout the United States and the world are the premier advocates for civil rights in their communities.

Why would the NAACP have sterling slated for a high honor,if it is publicly known he has history of housing discrimination as well as a history of racially charged language?  Do we have a case of money and power induced selection for purpose of ….”Money?”  How could the NAACP have missed Sterling’s past?  Al Sharpton is also listed on the honors program.  Is there a possibility of a lack of vetting the program honoree?

One can only hope there was a lack of vetting Vs. other motives.

For the NAACP, there must be jubilation Sterling’s concubine was timely in her revelation. Imagine the tsunami had she held the phone rant until after the event, their wouldn’t be enough eggs in the US to cover the embarrassment for the NAACP and all involved.

My posit…the NAACP should go beyond the press release and help us understand why Sterling was set to receive the program honor.

Why not get ahead of Fox News next Monday? After the Bundy miscarriage, Fox will certainly look to throw some (used) egg towards the NAACP and Al Sharpton.

Liberal #Democrat Donald Sterling Caught on Tape Screaming Ugly Racist EpithetsAmazing.
It’s been almost like clockwork this last couple of weeks. Leftists got a squirrelly reprieve with the fake Cliven Bundy sideshow, but then the left gets back on track with their racist repertoire of hate. Seriously. It’s too good. You just can’t make up these far-left Democrat Party supporting leftists spewing vile racial epithets, all caught on tape. Clockwork baby.

I say it all the time: the Democrat Party is the country’s natural home to racists and ethnic eliminationists. And now we have über liberal real estate mogul and sports owner, Democrat Party contributor and philanthropist, Donald T. Sterling in the news with yet another case of vile leftist racial hatred.

OK, so the blogger is either a comedian or insane. But, the hell will fly on Monday and it will come from Fox News
The hell will fly, but no one will focus on the common thread of this weeks racists “baths.” The root of it all is “white privilege” and deep paradigms that exist as an undercurrent in US society as surely as ocean undercurrents. hey are impossible to predict, unpreventable, a and everlasting unless attacked with major initiatives and condemnation from the majority who might find the paradigm reprehensible. Yet, I will predict we will “shake or heads,” think to ourselves, “Well I did not say it,” and we will move-on with the stick of racism clinging to us like an improperly wiped butt after restroom break.

And, many will do just as Sterling exhorted. They will ensure that they are not caught walking with black people.

The recession officially ended in June 2009, according to the Business Cycle Dating Committee of the National Bureau of Economic Research, the official arbiter of such dates.
As many economists had expected, this official end date makes the most recent downturn the longest since World War II. This recent recession, having begun in December 2007, lasted 18 months. Until now the longest postwar recessions were those of 1973-5 and 1981-2, which each lasted 16 months.
The newly-declared end-date to the recession also confirms what many had suspected: The 2007-9 recession was the deepest on record since the Great Depression, at least in terms of job losses.
Recession and expansion dates are based on various economic indicators, including gross domestic product, income, employment, industrial production and wholesale-retail sales. The Business Cycle Dating Committee typically waits to declare that the economy has turned until well after the fact, when it has a longer track record of economic data to confirm a new trend.

Paul has also recently spoken about how he will transform the GOP.  Paul is overwhelming in his delusion. While speaking with Glenn Beck (February 2014),  Paul spoke as follows.

“I think Republicans will not win again in my lifetime for the presidency unless they become a new GOP, a new Republican Party,” Paul told Beck. “And it has to be a transformation. Not just a little tweaking at the edges.”

“There is a struggle going on within the Republican Party,” he told Beck. “I will struggle to make the Republican Party a different party, a bigger party, a more diverse party and a party that can win national elections again.”

…..the GOP has to have “a better message and a better presentation” when talking to African-American and Latino communities.

Yes, Al Sharpton and his team  delivered a “gotcha” regarding Paul’s penchant for outright delusional lies. Sharpton was gracious and politically correct in not delving into Paul’s comments about the black and Latino communities. We are not politically correct nor gracious, when it comes to people like Rand Paul!

Paul is deeply paradigm-ed with libertarian doctrine that includes “state’s rights.” “States Rights” for areas of the nation that support the GOP are not geographic regions that have a history of fair and equal treatment for all races and genders. Paul has openly commented that private business owners should not be forced to provide services against their wishes. America knows the exact meaning of Paul’s libertarianism and his “false prophecy” is yes, being delivered to a social base that is never going to hear him.

I have spent the greater part of this piece on Paul’s delusions with lesser comment about Paul’s penchant for lying.  As titled (above) the reality: Paul is lying for effect. Or, as some might call it, he is practicing “Fake it to make it!”  All aimed at the GOP primarily campaign in 2015/2016.

The Paul reality. While his party will never accept his false prophecy, we are obliged to depict the Kentucky Senator for what he is…..

Support for political campaigns is as common as breathing. After the SCOTUS gave the nation unfettered secretive campaign sponsorship via Citizens United political spending has exponentially increased. The proliferation of tax-exempt organizations funneling money into our elections is both unprecedented and obscene.

Political contributions are funneled to the Left and to Right. In fact, the Center for Responsive Politics reported President Obama out-raised Mitt Romney rather handily in the run-up to the 2012 general elections. Obama was the donations winner based on contributions from (us) “small” donors. As anticipated Romney walked away with the lion’s share of PAC contributions.

On March 7th Al Sharpton, MSNBC Politics Nation, broadcast a segment about the illusive and secretive Koch brothers.

http://on.msnbc.com/1dCbEJd

Robert Greenwald has created a revealing documentary about Kochs. A docu/video series for those who have little to no knowledge of two men who obviously want to reshape the nation to their beliefs systems and construct laws to facilitate their vast industrial empire. Long story short, the Kochs are plutocrats. Plutocrats who will turn your world and my world into that of pawn pieces on a chess set.

The Kochs would become the kings of the fief and will directly work to shape our world as such. Kings must have subservient pawns across their fiefdoms; that means you and me.

The brothers advocate libertarian principles of smaller government, free-markets, deregulation, and reduction of social services. They actively fund and support organizations that contribute significantly to Republican candidates, and that lobby against universal health care and climate change legislation. They have donated more than $196 million to dozens of free-market and advocacy organizations. In 2008, the three main Koch family foundations contributed to 34 political and policy organizations, three of which they founded, and several of which they direct.

When the uber wealthy seek to buy elections and throw copious amounts of money at reshaping our society, only they win in the long run.

We published this piece earlier todayGOP Dirty Tricks! Remember Richard Nixon? The GOP Is At It Again!

MSNBC’s Al Sharpton, Politics Nation, places the dirty tricks piece in perspective.

A few questions before Sharpton’s segment.

Where is the outcry from the Left and open-minded Independents about Republican political malfeasance?

Is Fox News reporting these clear cases of voter manipulation, which are much move brazen and deceitful than claims of non-existent voter fraud? If not why does the alleged (news) network hide such stories from its viewers?

Would someone ask Joe Scarborough and Mika how they feel about dirty tricks?

Do you feel such deceit is an indication of the extent to which the Right pursues election contributions and election wins?
Why can’t the GOP win elections without malfeasance and surreptitious dirty tricks?

All questions are rhetorical questions.

Video Quick Hits: Christe and Limbaugh

In Al Sharpton, NBC, Politics Nation on January 9, 2014 at 12:23 PM

We did not have a good day !

Before we get to our salient points, we offer Both John Boehner and Mitch McConnell must have consulted the GOP Playbook on the unemployed. They both mentioned the “J” (jobs) word yesterday.

Now for the quick hits.

According to AL Sharpton’s Politics Nation (and each evening MSNBC News show host) yesterday was simply not a good day for conservative America. Chris Christe’s flatulence is showing via a “WaterGate” like “BridgeGate” scandal that has parked well within the purview of his “picnic basket.”

Rush Limbaugh took-on our recent dip to severe cold (Polar Vortex) with typical insane rhetoric developed for low information voters (people).  How can people actually listen to Limbaugh as he refutes a weather phenomenon that drove temperatures well into below average less across 85% of the nation?  Well, the demagogue on Clear Channel’s EIB Network has steeped on the toes of a well established and competent weather broadcaster.  Al Roker took Limbaugh to task and he did so very effectively. Roker capped his exposition with a “Stuff It” for Mr. Limbaugh.

First, a 12 minute broadcast about Christe’s scandal. The twelve minute segment is spot-on and worth every second.

Even the normal restrained Al Roker could no longer sit idly by while Limbaugh mocked reality. It is actually tragic more public figures do not take the Right-wing mouthpiece to task.

It is obvious the GOP has without shame evolved into a political party who serves a constituency that less prevalent in raw numbers while combust(ing) into a metaphorical solar body of protectionist for people and entities who reside at top of the social/economic scale.

The segments are not short snippets of raw news, but information at times requires interest and time. Haven’t we gone over board with the 140 character coded utterances /reality show evolution in our society?

The Affordable Care Act via Al Sharpton broadcast earlier in the New Year.

We thought of ending this piece at this point.  Since the screed (w/video) includes comment and opine about GOP callousness and the party’s core values of working on behalf of the nation;’s wealthy (and business concerns), the following video segment has to follow.

It is unfortunate many MSNBC segments are in excess of eight minutes run-time. On the other hand, the minutes are well spent with little to no waste of broadcast time.

There is a theme in the following video that rides just under the surface. Most on-air hosts are reticent to mention and explore the extent to which GOP trickle-down policy contributed the [light of the millions who have been cut-off unemployment payments. As you know, if you watched Politics Nation yesterday,  Eric Cantor has memo’d the House agenda for the month of January. Unemployment payments was noticeable, yet not surprisingly no included.

How can Americans flock to the voting places to cast votes for the GOP?
