The Daily GOP Ignominious: Texas Farenthold "Ignominious"

In Chris Matthews, Congress, Fox News, House of Representatives, MSNBC, The Daily GOP Ignominious on September 21, 2013 at 2:16 PM

Tea Party Intellect
Tea Party politician Farenthold. Wonder if the “M” on hand of Santa doll could mean “Minor.”
Tea Party politicians, to the person, are as underwhelming and seditious as any collective group of politicians I have witnessed in many years of observing federal politics.

We have grown accustomed to the likes of former members of Congress such as: Joe Walsh, Alan West, Rand Paul, and the even more recent horrors of Ted Cruz. These people are agenda driven anti-government representatives elected in districts that are deeply conservative and, frankly, in districts with denizens who may hate the very air that provides oxygen to President Obama.

I cannot recall a more illustrative example than via Bill O’Reilly who appears to serve, in this interview, as a spokesperson for conservative America. He certainly speaks for himself without the intestinal fortitude to go outside protocol and just say, “Mr. President I hate you.”

O’Reilly is Fox News’s most viewed propagandist.  He is a multimillionaire and well known for a psyche that sits on the edge of “losing it.”  He has intellect and a degree of poise. His skill sets afford him an opportunity to command and audience and entertain the audience; hence his number one cable ratings against other evening news/talk shows. The number one rating also speaks volumes about his audience and forsake of decency, I will not posit farther on his audience (this time).

As the Tea Party goes, all degrees of sophistication and intellect seems to fade-away. We offer a recent example of my point, before introducing one of the most pronounced examples of  a “low information” politician who appeals to even lower information constituents,

As I am keyboarding along on the piece Alex Witt, MSNBC, has a freshman GOP House member seated as a guest. The discussion moved to shutting down the federal government as a strategy against Obamacare.  A telling point came forth, when asked about congressionals not suffering stoppage of their pay during the shutdown .  The freshman congressman said his pay would stop. When corrected by Witt (his pay will not stop), he quickly did something very childlike. “Oh, I am a freshman.” The congressman did not even know the status of his personal compensation as it related to pay losses of others. He is probably wealthy and his pay is of little consequence, but nonetheless he did not know the full impact of his actions. He did not even possess the curiosity nor wherewithal to know the full scope of his actions. If for no other reason, competent people would know the nuances of their actions to fight off attacks from people who oppose his actions.  If the freshman member of congress had been challenged in a town-hall meeting, he would have looked pretty foolish in the presence of constituents. His lack of knowledge on this morning’s newscast exposes his competence level for the world to see.

Since I have introduced the congressional district town hall, we should explore Tea Party incompetence and phoniness with another example.  An example that is even more illustrative than the congressman on Alex Witt. The following member of Congress is shameful and not a stellar example of electoral choice from his constituents.

Tea Party House Rep. Blake Farenthold (TX) during a five-week recess town-hall meeting.

Farenthold followed the obvious summer strategy of the 2013 summer recess: “Impeach Obama.”

It is interesting the number of people who attend the GOP “red meat” town-halls, who are not supporters of the members of Congress. Yet, the presence of the surreptitious video recorder does not matter. GOP members of Congress must feed their voracious throngs.

When challenged by an intellectual (Chris Matthews, MSNBC) with dynamics of an on-air interview, the grinning, squirming congressman takes a drudging.

The ignominious aspects of this member of Congress and the Matthews interview is two-fold.  First, his constituents probably did not see the interview as it did not take place via Fox News.  Second, the overwhelming phoniness and lack of professional ethics from the member of Congress is indicative of the quality of people influencing the House of Representatives. That means we as a nation collectively suffer; not just his constituents.
